teksmabrep
so far no problems yet with law enforcement, but I'm debating on going lighter... Sent from Picture This! Auto Care
ChargerMatt
so far no problems yet with law enforcement, but I'm debating on going lighter... Sent from Picture This! Auto Care I started out with the 3 coats as well (looks like 3 in that pic). I had an old guy roll up beside me and tell me my tail lights were out. That weekend I sanded down the inside circles (2010 lights) so they are plain red.
Chewy
Mine were clear from the factory and I had them tinted medium black and still got a warning. They're not dark at all. Chris
Chuckkilo3
Can't tell unless the tail lights or brake lights are on. Looks too dark to me.
BlueGenCoupe
I would go lighter...Cops will be all over you and if you ever get rear ended(knock on wood) it will be your fault.
Hiredgun8
I would go lighter...Cops will be all over you and if you ever get rear ended(knock on wood) it will be your fault. For your safety and the guy behind you.
07RS4
Honestly, and personal opinion only....after all you did ask. I always thought tail light tinting was a mod that high school kids did, kind of looks tacky if you ask me. Plus agree with the others...safety seems to be suspect though. Seems like it would be tough to see the lights.
AngryPolska
You already have enough risk of being rear ended as it is. Blacking out tail lights is just asking for trouble.
Ralfy
i had tinted tail lights on my 99 tahoe, but i had a custom LED tails made by a member on the full size chevy forums, they were insanely bright and could be seen from very far away, you can have tinted tail lights but you must either go lighter or upgrade to LED's. heres a link to the chevy forum for those of you interested, heck if you have a chevy truck you can have a custom LED set made for you. my new tail light project
colodude18
I've always been a fan of aftermarket tail lights over tinting the stock ones. That will still achieve the same look, but since the aftermarket tails are typically DOT approved, you won't get in trouble and will still be plenty visible. They are brighter because they have LEDs and smoke clear lenses versus the darker smoked red. I agree that tinting existing lights risks looking tacky or "rice". To each his own, but safety is not a matter of taste...
teksmabrep
Appreciate the advice people, I actually decided to take the Tints off last night. Realized it wasnt worth the risk factor of really getting rear ended and be at fault. thanks once again people. Sent from Picture This! Chewy
On your car, I would paint the top and sides silver to match the car and leave the backs red. My center brake light is not covered by my window tint either. That does help. Chris

Dv3andrs
You can always get some VHT and just put 1 coat on them and then clear them, smokes them a bit but not too much at all.
Integrity Detailing, LLC
Before: After: I have some very bright LEDs. The signs on the highway would light up as I drove past. People would turn their heads when stopped behind me. I'm surprised that I never got pulled over for them being too bright. I'll be sure to check how bright they are tonight. In the day light the appear just a tad bit darker than stock light output. We'll see tonight. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
