Quick Sealant and bugs

Rich

Question

Drove 7 hours to Ocean City Md Thursday, and 7 hours home on Sunday. Before I left I detailed the whole car and topped it off with the Quick Sealant. With the temps in the 80's on the way home Sunday, the bugs were thick as grass and 90% of them ended up on the front of the Vette. So today, I had to wash the pollen and bugs off.

Man, I didn't even have to scrub those things, they just fell off with the water! Not one single bug stuck. Even the pollen didn't take much effort to remove.

I'm 100% sold on this stuff. :rockon::rockon::rockon:

I was just fixing to start a thread about bugs and the Quick Sealant. Good Job Rich.

We have the dreaded love bugs here. They come twice a year and at times can be real nasty. Coat the front of your car and kill the windshield. I started using the QS on the front every detail since the love bugs are coming out again, and every weekend when I wash our vehicles. I made a post on a local forum in the retirement community where I work, and quite a few have ordered that kit from Adams. This seems to work really good.

As Rich said, I just wash them right off. Great protection and Great Shine.

I hate love bugs. I never had that many accumulated on my vehicles ever.

I typically use brilliant glaze followed by Americana. What is the best way to incorporate the quick sealant? I have a bug problem in my area and I despise cleaning off bug guts.

Thanks

Justin

sealant gets applied to bare paint, follow that up with the glaze then wax. if your taking a road trip and your expecting to hit bugs, a quick application of the QS over the wax is okay too :2thumbs:

Just apply QS over what ever is on the front of the car. Since it is not applied directly on the paint, it will not last too long.

1. Apply QS as often as needed. When you start seeing less beading, throw 3oz of APC into your car wash bucket mixture. That will strip the remaining sealant, for you to start over. OR You can use a CLEAN SingleSoft or DoubleSoft towel with IPS, panel by panel. IF you are looking for extra protection, apply Buttery Wax or APW over the top of what's on there now.

:2thumbs:

MSS is a more durable product (by how much in some cases is super minimal) than QS is. I think QS actually works better at letting the carcasses of bugs slide right off.

So basically quick sealant turned out too good?

HOLY CRAP!!! I feel so lucky for (1) living in Colorado, where bugs are scarce anytime of the year, and (2) never having to drive any highway miles or long distances unless I want to ;-)

I, too, was confused about when to use the quick sealant. After purchasing, all the posts said to use it on "bare paint". I have so much Adams stuff on the Vette that I was not about to strip and start over. So I did a small test area on one of the other cars ( that also has alot of Adams chemicals). Frankly I noticed no difference in appearance.

However, now that I hear about the ease in removing bugs by merely

" spraying off " I will try it on the next road trip.

Another quick sealant question... In adams video he sprays it onto the cowling and weather stripping. I thought great as these have always been difficult areas to maintain long term. But then the posts said this was only meant to show that there was no harm if the spray accidentially got onto these surfaces. Question.....Is the sealant meant to also enhance these areas?

Thank you

Are you saying that it is okay to us the BW or APW "over" the existing sealant? I was under the assumption that one is suppose to apply QS or the MSS on "bare" paint and THEN apply other products of your choice.

I realize I may be making something so simple, just way to hard. However I need to ensure that with either the QS or MSS is properly applied.

Yes, anything over QS or MSS should be fine, at any time.

Furthermore, when one starts to see one or the other of the two products stop working then is it your recommendation to just "remove" the sealant/s and re-apply them OR do a complete strip and start over with bare paint? IF that is applicable then how does one actually know when "only" the SS or MSS is removed and not any other products? When I see the QS stop working I just do a complete IPA.

If you are not seeing any beading, then 'topper' wax is gone AND the sealant is gone or going,

It will make plastic trim look better, but this will not last as long as SVRT.

Someone mentioned they were going to test applying QS OVER SVRT to see if would help make the SVRT last longer.

Many TKS Michael. That "thoroughly" answered my concerns and another step in the great process of detailing for perfection. :2thumbs:

Just applied a layer quick sealant to my black challenger this weekend in the garage. My lights are not the best but it looked fine when I wiped it down. Followed directions on back of can. When I backed it out this afternoon to look at it in sunlight there were smears all over. I had applied BG/Americana a month ago and understood the above post as I could put QS over the top. Any suggestions? I tried wiping it down with detail spray and ww with no change. Smears are not like wax that hasn't dried.

Thanks

Justin

Anyone else have this result or suggestions?

i'm assuming the sealant has had time to cure? test a smeared area with DS and buff it off. if it doesn't go away, test it again with WW, wipe it off, then DS again.

Sounds like it was laid on pretty heavy, and you didn't quite wipe it all off, rather pushing around the excess.

Did the DS and SingleSoft towel in those areas help?

I did a wipe down about an hour after application on Sunday and then after i noticed the smears in sunlight yesterday i tried detail spray on the hood and WW. I'll give it another try tonight. Thanks for the feedback.

The detail I did on a white Ford Escape 2 weeks ago was for a customer shipping the car out to California on the upper level of a hauler. I explained the use of the QS and how it will help with removing the bugs along with protecting the paint. I hope to hear the results of the Escape's condition when the car arrives out west soon.

I can attest to this as well! just up here we had a ton of butterflys that i took out on the way up to school, got up here and quick spray off and they were gone :D quick sealant ftw. I need Adams to get their new shipment in so I can get my 3 pack as I am running very low right now.
