are they OE, or aftermarket?

if OE, the wheels are polished, not chrome! clean them normally, but use Metal Polish #1 and #2 to a mirror finish, then follow that up with some QS to protect them!

if they're truely chrome, then treat them as you would your paint!

then there is most likely no clear coat on them. Adam's Metal Polish combo will work wonders for you! on true chrome i've had success mixing the Metal Polish #1 with a little revive on a blue hex grip pad. i don't have MP2 yet, because i hardly us MP1 as it is. the only true chrome piece i own is an exhaust tip that gets hit with everything from the RR tire on the road! :loser:

I'm not sure if they are clear coated or not. My step-dad has an OEM set on his '96 SS. Last week I stripped all of the wax on them off w/ APC, put quick sealant on followed by brilliant glaze. They look awesome and probably the most like a "mirror" since he's owned the car. If you want to see if they're clear coated or not, take a little bit of Metal Polish #1 or #2 and run an inconspicuous spot on the wheel. If black residue comes off on the applicator, they're NOT cleared and continue with that polish. If there IS NOT any black residue, stop, and grab Revive Polish then follow that with quick sealant and brilliant glaze!

I was going to polish my step-dad's "polished" C6 Z06 wheels, but after a little research discovered that they were actually clear coated. I was disappointed since they look pretty dull.

OP, if you know who manufactured the wheels, since they are aftermarket, call them up and ask them if they clear coat their wheels or not. A lot of aftermarket companies will. I know OEWheels "polished" wheels are clear coated, so they might clear chrome too.

chrome and polished get mistaken for the same thing all too often as well!

Chewy, how do use the quick sealant on wheels? Do you spray them ,then wipe off or do you spray onto on mf then hit the wheels.:lurk:

i quickly spray it on the spokes and around the lip, then spray some in an americana applicator pad, and rub it on, as if i was waxing. get done with all 4 corners, wait a few minutes, go back and buff it off
