In between stages and what first

bobbagels

Question

Hello, hello

I am going to start this afternoon (first timer) wash, clay and so-on

2 quick questions please,

Interior or exterior first?

In between stages, like if I wash and clay today and want to use PC and swirl remover, then polish tomorrow I am sure some dust will settle on the car in the garage overnight. (nothing heavy or anything but .....) I am not a big fan of car covers, thay can scratch and leave dust also. So when I want to start up again tomorrow morning what should I do about the minimal dust that has settled overnight?

1) It doesn't really matter whether you do the interior or exterior first. It's just a personal preference.

2) A simple waterless wash will take care of any dust that will have settled on the car.

Good luck! I just got done polishing/sealing my car yesterday. It's hard work but it's worth it in the long run! :pc:

I use WW and a WW towel and clean it off. I did mine a couple of weeks ago this way!

You can also do the sides the first day and the tops the second. That way if you somehow scratch the tops removing the dust, you'll correct it right away.

WW FTW!

What year Toronado is that? I had a 1981 that my parents bought new. By the time I got it, it had been passed on to one of our sales managers and had over 100,000 miles on it. Honestly, it was a pretty decent car. Totally old school!

From the look of the photo, it was the same color. Mine actually said Toronado across the front though.

Wow, super fast responses, thank you guys.

I have 1 delima,

I have the waterless wash but not the waterless wash towels, which I will promptly order.

Is there something else I could use? I do have 2double and 2single microfibers and a couple Great White Microfiber Drying Towels

PS- Chris, its a 83 color is candy apple root beer (not original)

This car was smashed like a pretzel when I got it. Found it layin under a tree (literally) She asked for my help, what can I say?

Don't quote me on this, but I think GWDT's are the same if not similar to the waterless wash towel, just a lot bigger. So I would use that because they will absorb a lot more water than the MF towels.

I quoted you, but only because I was going to say the same thing but I wasn't 100% sure.

They are close enough to get the job done. And remember, you are polishing the car, so if you get a 'little' rough with the towels in the wipe down, just fix it!

Nice! Mine was an '81 with the 307, but it was burgundy. It had the "Handling Package" on it and the built in CB radio and power everything. lol

4 wheel disc brakes too! Pretty amazing for the year it was made IMO.

All I could think is if this has the handling package on it, what the heck do the ones without handle like? The thing was a PIG! lol

I remember the window sticker which we still had. 14,000 and some change in 1981 for it.

I do the interior after I apply the sealent (Quick or Machine). If using the Quick Sealent, the cure time (30 minutes) gives you enough time to do the interior before applying the Brilliant Glaze.

Welp I did the interior today. came out nice. (tomorrow is strip wash, clay and maybee swirl remover if enough time.

I also used the Adams chrome polish (if you know this car you know how much chrome shes got) and I was impresses.

Quick question,

On the chrome polish bottles 1 says "chrome polish" and the other says "chrome polish #2"

I assume #2 is last?

Pics for sure when shes done

(you can see the car here now as she is today though.)
