Remove Glaze & Wax Coat?

70chevelleSS

Question

Hello!

After finishing with PC7424 and applied one coat of glaze & wax, I noticed a small area missed when buffing! Do I need to remove the glaze/wax coat before buffing with PC7424 again or do I need to remove it? If i do need to remove it, whats the best way? :help:

Thank!

I would remove it before buffing as to not clog the pad, or compromise the polishes abilities to break down and effectively polish the paint. A polish will go right through the wax, but for the sake of continuity with everything else you have done and to do it right, I would start fresh.

You could strip it a number of ways. Hopefully it is localized to just 1 panel. If it is [and even if it isn't], you can lightly clay the surface, use an All Purpose Cleaner, or use Isopropyl Alcohol to strip the wax. After polishing, reprep the surface, apply the glaze, and wax again. If you just strip one panel, you can then reapply the glaze and wax evenly just as you did on all of the other panels.

Just the regular IPA from the drug store?

Thanks!
