SHR and FMP. OK to Leave on Paint?

ChuckG

Question

Been doing paint correction with SHR and FMP over parts of two days with my Flex. It got cold and windy here, and I've been unable to wash my car. The car is sitting in my garage with spent SHR and FMP all over the paint. Is it OK to leave it there till the weather changes so I can wash it?

I'm uncomfortable wiping it down with WW. I had dusting when correcting.

I've never washed my car after correcting it. I just do a WW wipe down and it looks great.

You're OK to leave it for a bit, but it may take some work to remove.

I'm hoping to wash it tomorrow, if it warms up. My plan is to wash it then seal it. I guess I could wipe it down, but after all the work I put into correcting, I'd hate to put micro scratches back in the paint. But then again it could happen if I just wash it. :)

The weather sucks around here right now.

Hopefully you've worked the polish down and there should be no reason you'd scratch it. I never have and my car is black. Do an area as a test.

Good News:

Finally got my car washed yesterday. The SHR and FMP came off OK except for a couple of areas where I had to rub a bit. Also, got the car sealed. I'm sore to say the least.

Bad News:

Got the car done and took a drive. Had to do a pit stop in a parking lot. Now I just don't put my car anywhere in a lot. I look around for a spot that looks safe. I guess it wasn't safe enough because someone backed into my front bumper and striped a 5" line of paint off the car. Thankfully I have an eye witness and know who this person is. Must not have been safe enough. My fault for not being more careful.

Can you believe that?? I just got done working on my car over three days then this happens. I'm starting to believe that if you drive your car, it's not going to stay perfect no matter what you do.

Yeah, having a car out in the world makes it available for dents, dings, damage. First dent I got on this one made my blood boil. Glad I didn't see it happen, I probably would have been in jail, after all the TLC I put into it.
