04silverado Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 My Jumbo and Smaller wash mitts are about due to replace as they have been used heavily for quite a while. I looked and did not see the merino wash mitt, was wanting to give it a try. Is this mitt not for sale anymore??
ChargerMatt Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I remember when I got to hand wash in mid-February. It never dropped below freezing since then and I remember it still being wet going into March. Yikes.
02Xtreme07ss Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I'm thinking a boot or glove dryer would knock it out in no time flat.
Chewy Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I looked at trying it, but didn't think it really mattered how quickly it dried. Heck, it'll just get wet again later this week... Chris
Team Adam's Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Not a bad idea... hadn't thought of turning them inside out.
Bill-V8V Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Trust me... I was in the front yard trying to take flight for a couple of minutes. It's the leather that has stayed wet. The fibers are totally dry! Chris Not sure if this is a good idea or not but what I do is turn it inside out and sit it on the rack in my dryer for an hour on extra low, it gets the leather almost dry. So far this has worked well for me, use at your own risk
Adroc33 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 NICE! My goal is to look crazy enough out front that no one will ever bother me again! I think I'm going to start wearing Doc Brown's goggles from Back to the Future when I'm out there. Your only sure fire way to achieve this mook... nude or semi-nude detailing... just make sure you don't live close to a school or playground. I just pictured a semi-nude Doc Brown air guitaring with a wash mitt. The things this forum makes me think about SMH

THE Mook Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Fast pitch softball motion with the mit on your hand... I'm telling you, mine will dry in < a day if I fling the water out like that first. Plus it completes the 'crazy cycle' for me in front of the neighborhood b/c it looks like I'm having an air guitar rock out session in my driveway to celebrate my clean vehicles. NICE! Chewy Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 My wife asked me where to put them as I had both the pad and the mitt sitting on our drying rack in the laundry room. I told her to stick it in the buckets in the cabinet. She asked if it was OK as the mitt was still wet. Leather takes FOREVER to dry. I washed the car on Saturday. Chris
JerseyGator Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Yes... because they're made from natural wool there is a good chance they have oils in them still from the animal, so the first use or 2 you may notice they 'kill the suds' a little in your wash bucket. To stop/prevent this you can simply spray the mitt down with APC before its first use, let it soak in a bucket of water then rinse clean. As Chewy mentioned you could also wash with dawn in the sink with warm water if thats easier for you. Because the fibers are natural theres a lot of inconsistency in them, so while one mitt might not be oily at all, another might be VERY oily... just depends which sheep and where on that sheep the wool was taken. Thanks! I love my mitt but notice it takes forever to dry. Just soak the new mitt in a bucket of warm water and APC (3oz) for about a half hour. Get the excess oils out, and also helps with the wet sheep smell! Great idea. I noticed that ugly smell the first few uses. wait... wut? No offense brother ba, ba, blacksheep!
THE Mook Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I don't know... I know I did... I sent Dylan an email after using mine asking him what he thought about the fact that the Merino was a suds killer. He told me to clean the oils out of it using APC or the like. Dawn would work as well. Chris Just soak the new mitt in a bucket of warm water and APC (3oz) for about a half hour. Get the excess oils out, and also helps with the wet sheep smell!

Chewy Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Wash with APC? Did I miss something? I don't know... I know I did... XQIZT Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Have you guys also tried checking with your local distributors? Remotely posted by XQIZT Automotive
Adroc33 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I talked to Ashley yesterday and they have been out for a few weeks as I have really been wanting to get one. She said they should be in this week sometime. Dylan any chance us forum members could get a bump when it's back in stock?
04silverado Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Thanks guys hopefully it will come back for sale soon! I may just get some more synthetic pads for the time being.
Chewy Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Remember to wash it well with APC or Dawn to remove the natural oils. I learned this the hard way... It's a foam killjoy if you don't! Chris
