Will!
What Would AF Do? I bought a set of Ultra Predators for my truck and the entire set had issues with the chrome finish. Th store I bought them from got the ok from their distributor to swap out the full set with brand new ones, but I had to pay for the mounting. Well today I got a phone call from the store manager telling me that the wheels were not covered and asking me to pay $900 to cover the cost of my new wheels, or he would have to notate my account and not be able to sell me basically anything again. He said I could take like 8 months to pay this off but to me that's beside the point. I'm pissed off more so because I was told that they would be covered, we sent pictures to Ultra and the distributor and now this, and because I have spent so much $$ in their store that their trying to screw me. So AF what would you do?
Will!
I do have it in writing via the receipt that I got when I had them swap my tires onto my new wheels. I went in and talked to the manager and he showed me the email from them and the reasoning for denying the warranty. Their reasoning seems to be because they were sent back dirty and I didn't polish them after it was already a known issue that the chrome was yellowing. I told the store manager why would I keep these wheels nice and polished when they're clean the yellowing is way more apparent and makes them look even worse. I mean honestly would you keep wheels maintaned and clean when they look like *** clean? Anyway he said that he would try to see what he could do about getting the wheels covered on his end. I figure I would give him a week and see what he says, thoughts? What should I do from here?
Team Adam's
Do you have a written copy of the return/warranty policy? Does it detail anything specifically about the condition the wheels need to be returned in if they're deemed defective?
Will!
Do you have a written copy of the return/warranty policy? Does it detail anything specifically about the condition the wheels need to be returned in if they're deemed defective? I myself don't have a copy of the warranty policy but when I stopped by the store the manager showed me their email and stated that they would not warranty the wheels due to neglect. Well I have already been back and forth with them about the yellowing issue on all 4 wheels and I was told that I would have to purchase a new set and then send my current set in for evaluation. Well just before the 1 year finish warranty expired I went into the store again and had the manager call the distributor and ask to see of they'll go ahead and replace them. The distributor authorized the warranty swap because of the yellowing of the chrome, not because the wheels were pitting. They have been sent pictures of the wheels when the issue first happened. After they told me I had to buy a new set I just stopped maintaining them. And I pose the question to everyone, wouldnt you do the same? If the wheels look like crap clean wouldn't you stop cleaning them to save yourself the aggravation?
Chuckkilo3
It sounds like nit picking on the part of the distributor. They seem to be looking for a way out instead of doing what they should. Tell them to pack sand.
NeonSRT-4
I am only being honest here and telling you what I would have done. I would have removed the wheels and put the stock ones back on, returned them to the dealer and would have either received a new set or my money back. I wouldn't have kept them on the vehicle after I noticed the defect.

Thats where my thinking was going... sounds like a perfect storm really - you kept them on the vehicle until the end of the warranty. you didn't maintain them (I get why you didn't, but you gave them an excuse to void the warranty). you didn't get copies of the acceptance of the return/replacement in writing. I had no choice but to keep them on my truck. It's lifted and the stock wheels wouldn't even clear the spindle properly. I kept them on the truck because I was pretty much stuck with them, until I could afford to buy a brand new set to use so we could send the old ones out. The store manager called their distributor and got someone to listen to what's going on with the wheels and they gave the ok to swap the wheels with a brand new set. The same store saw the wheels as they dismounted them, there was never any mention that I still might be on the hook for the new set. In fact the receipt even shows them as being an even exchange, I had to pay for the labor to mount and balance my tires on the new rims as well. Ultimately what do I do? Just leave things as they are and not worry or do I start barking up the chain of command and through the BBB?
Doug123
Clean the current ones up, take them back, get your money back, walk away from that place and never go back.

Find somebody else to do tire and wheel business with.
