Laguna
Thought you guys might like this story. I'm not sure if I posted on here about when my car got hit, but I think I did. The story begins where I brought my car to a bodyshop that was given a lot of praise. They told me it would take 6 days to fix it all. The work to be done is just the damage that was done in the following picture. It was only the left side of the vehicle, including the door, fender, and quarterpanel. I called them on day 5 because just for laughs and giggles, I wanted to know how much it would cost to repaint and fix the front end bumper and the front of the hood. Since the car is running on 112k miles, it has built up quite the amount of chips and damage to the front end. Including one nice dent on the front of the hood due to a large rock of some sort. He quotes me $900 to fix it now, which is the best time. Coming back later would be like $1,400. Dang, that is crazy. He also informs me that since the initial estimate of $2,200...it has actually gone up to $3,400. Parts are not easy to find on the vehicle is what it comes down to. That little badge on the side that they replaced? $140. That little badge costs more than the $130 mirror. The door panel was $560. So he calls me on day 6 to inform me that unfortunately the car will not be ready that day and will take another day (come to find out it took 2 more days). He then tells me he has good news...but bad news.... He tells me that the paint guys read the information wrong on the datasheet and they ended up sanding down the front bumper and half of the hood. Turns out they thought they were supposed to also do the whole front end. So he tells me "Merry Christmas, they painted it by accident and we can't charge you." (This also means they sanded it all down and fixed that nice dent on my hood). They did such a FANTASTIC job on the body paint. You can't tell it's been painted at all. I stared at the hood trying to find the halfway point they did and couldn't find anything. LOVE IT! Just to note to all you detailers: he told me he was able to match it so well and it looks so good because of the fact that I take care of the paint and wax it, etc. My car has 112k miles on it and has only been garaged just recently in its 6 year life. I owe the condition of the paint to the fact that I take care of my car because I know if I didn't, it wouldn't match right now and I would be very upset. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SON!!! :D:D:D:D:D Oh, also...this is what was next to it:
Chuckkilo3
I'm just about certain they blended to paint so you should not be able to see any distinct halfway points. Good deal for you.
