Taping question

ragtop1970

Question

Hi everyone,

I have a 2007 Corvette Indy 500 Official Pace Car, and it has several graphics (I'm assuming vinyl, as they are not painted on).

I'm planning on beginning a detailing session soon with a PC and Adam's products. I plan on taping off the edges of the graphics with green painter's tape.

Should I overlap the edge of the graphics by maybe 1/8th of an inch, and my other question is can I tape the graphics the night before just to save some time, or will it "stick" more if I leave it on overnight?

Thanks,

Ragtop

I'll overlap by about 1/16". The green tape seems a bit more sticky to me than the blue and I perfer the blue, but I've left both on the car for a week or more at a time while the car was in the garage being worked on with no ill effects.

Love the color!

I love the color too, but no matter what color you have, you always hear from the haters as well!

Don't forget the bed sheet over the top. Tape along the bottom of the frame where it meets the car, then tape the bed sheet to that tape. This will keep the top much cleaner when you are polishing.

Beautiful Vette! Good luck with the taping. Try to take picture of your process throughout the detail for the forum that can help others since there is always a "Taping" question coming up. BTW, did I mention how sweet your Vette is. Good luck, and enjoy!

Welcome!

This forum is great, there might be disagreement on some things but almost always there is respect. Makes this place much nicer than those other forums where all the disrespectful and junior-high type of drama is the norm.

Awesome car!!
