Leather conditioner problem??

Carcrazy

Question

Does anyone else have the problem of the leather conditioner not keeping the leather nice and natural looking? I'm not looking for fake armor all eye blinding shine here, just a nice natural leather shine. I bought the premium flex kit awhile back and now that its getting nice out I finally got around to enjoying these fine products from adam's, but so far I am highly dissapointed in the leather conditioner. It will keep the leather nice untill the first few drives then the leather is back to a dull faded look. If its worth anything its a 01 VW jetta black on black. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah I used the leather cleaner first then the conditioner immediately after. What gets me is I didnt have this problem before I used the cleaner. Or was I just used to seeing the oily sheen from the dirty leather?? Or is there such a thing?

I waited quite a while before I decided to do a full on detail to the inside of my company car. When I did, I too noticed the Leather Conditioner not lasting very long and being somewhat splotchy. After several repeted applications over a couple/few weeks, and buffing down the areas of application with a microfiber to try and even everything out: I finally got the natural appearance I think your looking for. It took a while for all the dried panels to finally absorb the product evenly to give me the look I was able to achive in my other cars. It now lasts and looks better than new.

Apply it a little thick, and leave the window cracked so it can dry quicker. This should speed things up for your desired look. You will need a couple applications, as the leather is probably really thirsty.

I have experience the splotchiness with the conditioner. I think it's a great product don't get me wrong, but sometimes it seems like it's alot of work to get the product to cover evenly. Some interiors look great from the jump, but other's I seem like have to try different methods to get it to that "uniformed" appearance. I've noticed that on my RS it always seems like it evens itself out by the following morning, then I may knock it down a bit with a MF.

I'll keep trying different methods. So far I've tried putting it on thicker and letting it dry over night and of course the first time I tried it was real thin and tried to rub it into the leather. Has anyone noticed in the high heat that it bleeds back up from the leather? I only had this happen once so it might have been the time I put it on thick.

You figured it out. That's the trick. You have to clean the leather real good first, then apply the leather conditioner. And not just one coat. After the first application, you'll notice that it's streaky. It will take two or three more coats before it's really nice and supple again. Once you get it right, it will last the summer at least.

I rub mine in by hand when I'm getting it ready to store in the winter. The rest of the time, I use a micro.
