Had the first of hopefully many SVGTO Cars & Coffee meet ups this morning. First one went well and we'll do another one the last Saturday of May again. We had 12 folks there with eight vehicles.

And of course Matt brings his Jeep instead.

Thanks for sharing Dave, I always love pics of Pontiacs together.

Hey I brought it on purpose! I needed to stretch her legs out a bit since I only put 5,000 miles on her in 2 years. Yes she looks like absolute crap paint wise on the hood and other areas due to a very poor paint job that was not done by me but I'll tell you this, she runs like a top. I can't use too many of the Adam's products on that paint yet but she will hopefully be getting body work and paint within a year from now. Not too many 88 YJ's running around with a tuned up 5.3L and fully built 4L60E out of an 05 Tahoe. She hauls the mail and still gets 15-17mpgs with 35" tires. :burnout:

Reminds me of my '91 Suburban. The paint's already completely peeled off the roof and is now mostly gone on the hood. The rear wheel arches have rust bubbling up from under the paint and most of the undercarriage is covered with rust. However, the old 6.2L diesel still runs like a champ and gets 18-20 mpg. Someday when I have the money and location to do it I'll do a complete frame-off restoration and restore her to the condition of her glory days.

With the amount of times I've had that thing apart I think it would have been easier to do a full frame off. Oh well the Jeep is actually my first ever vehicle. I learned to drive stick in it in my grandparents field just going around and around and around. I then learned to drive in just about every weather condition in it as well. The only things I didn't do to it is the paint job and re-gearing the axles. Everything else, including the complete re-wiring and drivetrain swap, was done in my 1 car garage. I know she doesn't look like much to most of you on here but every time I fire her up I can't help but smile since it has so far been 10 years of blood, sweat and tears into that thing.

It has taught me many things in life way beyond modifying a vehicle, kept me out of trouble and let me meet a lot of great people in the process. I didn't want to go totally off topic here but trust me, the best is yet to come. ;)

My Suburban was my first vehicle too. I was always working on it with my dad before it was even mine. My senior year of high school it blew a hole in one of the pistons and I rebuilt the engine in our garage. Notice how you can see light through the piston. :help:

While I had everything apart I decided to add a Banks Sidewinder Turbo kit to give it some more life. It was my trusty daily driver all through college and I never really had anymore problems with it. Now it doesn't get used all that often and is mainly just a winter vehicle so that I minimize the salt exposure to my G8. After all these years in New England in a town next to the ocean, the rust is finally catching up with it, and I wouldn't really want to take it on long trips anymore. I don't think I could ever get rid of her though because of all the time we've spent together, which is why someday I plan on rebuilding her. I've already spent a lot of time going through the Classic Industries and LMC Truck catalogs. :)

Ok, now I've helped take this thread totally off topic.

c4? And I'm not talking corvettes.

Tim, Matt's Jeep looks a bit rough but mechanically it's a gem! LS motor & modern transmission transplant, excellent craftsmanship with great results. Matt is one of the best fabricators that I've ever met, and that includes me! lol
