How should I dry my Car

chrys7

Question

Quick question, so my 392 is my daily driver and its been raining in Miami since Saturday. I drove my car in but with nothing to dry her up with its stitting in the garage beads everywhere :2thumbs:.

How should I go about drying her up?

Remember that in driving it in although it was raining im sure there is dirt stuck to the car somewhere the car does have a 2 week old coat of Quick Seal>Glaze>Americana. Is it safe to just let it air dry?

I can dry my car sure, I meant after I have driven into work and it sitting in my garage at work. Just concerned about letting it air dry. Air drying I dont think is an option as there are no outlets in the garage where I park.

If you drove it in the rain to work and it is sitting all day, there's nothing you can do....safely. Just wait until you get home and do a correct 2 bucket wash. Its the only safe way to do it.

To expand on this...

The rain comes from wayyyyyy up in the sky, and on it's way down, it's grabbing any and every dirt and dust particle, before it slams into your car. Thus, putting dirt on your paint. When it doubt, get the buckets out.

I'm probably gonna get slammed for this comment......

But when I've had a PERFECTLY clean car (as in freshly detailed & I know I've got good protection on the paint), then take a short drive, and on that drive I get hit with a small rainstorm. I've pulled into the garage and went to town with WCW and a WCW towel. I've just soaked the car, panel by panel, with WCW and wiped with a WCW towel (go through several of them because they get soaked quick, lol). And then followed up with DS and double-soft towel.

When done right, with a clean WCW towel, with a lot of WCW and light pressure, you won't harm your paint one bit. I've had this happen 3-4 times on my daily drivers and had phenomenal success. HOWEVER, like I said, this is ONLY ON freshly detailed and well-protected paint, after one small drive!!! If the car ever gets "dirty" I always do a 2-bucket wash!!! But on a lightly dusted car, where a bit of rain was introduced, I've had great results with the WCW followed by DS. :)

So far no slamming... :lolsmack:

I'm with you on this one. My Jeep (my DD) was just Quick Sealed last weekend and washed yesterday. It rained last night into the morning. Had to take my wife to work, just a couple of miles there and back. Rain stopped. I didn't want to rewash. So I sprayed it down with water to get loose dirt off and then Metro blasted the majority of the water off. And used DS with WW towels. Looks outstanding in my opinion.

I agree. I take WCW and lots of towels on Corvette runs. One run we got caught in a rain, that eve I washed the car using WCW and WWMF towels. It was clean all weekend long. Just use lots of WCW, light pressure and keep your towel clean.
