Foam Rubber Grips

Got some new foam rubber grips for my lawn mower today (the old ones cracked, split, rendered useless, etc). I never thought about protecting them.

I tried wrapping some a long time ago with duct tape and/or electrical tape, but over time the heat makes that stuff really sticky to the touch.

Having said that, I'm definitely going to give them a few coats of SVRT. Any other ideas to help prolong their life?

If you can take the handle off and get to the ends, try getting some rubber heat shrink tubing. If you can't, get some F4 tape, that stuff is amazing. It will make electrical tape or duct tape look like childs play :)

That foam always gets brittle and hard and cracks. It's the nature of the beast. That being said, my Honda doesn't have foam on the handle. It's a slightly ergonomic steel handle once the blade clutch handle is pushed into place.

Best bet for your handle foam is to cover it with tennis racket wrap.
