the1inblue Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I would try use some FMP and the drill with the white focus pad. If they are still there use SHR and orange pad Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2

Claying windows is always a good idea too.

LFairbanks Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 This thread inspired me to give an idea I have had for a while a try. Judge for yourself how it worked. The test subject is my basement windows. Window blinds are always closed to keep prying eyes from looking in so the deposits aren't always a concern. The sprinkler system always does a window good. I clean them about once a year, and yes they need to be done badly. First time trying this method however. I used a product called Bar Keepers Friend. I have used it for years in cleaning the bathrooms. It isn't abrasive like Ajax or something of the like. But works well. I would think if it were abrasive I would notice scratching in my chrome faucets, and there is none. Pic below was hard to take and show removal of spots. The spot I rubbed came out perfect. 15 oz. All-Purpose Cleaner-11584 at The Home Depot
GlossAngeles Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I second the 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner
CaptainChet Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I second the 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner This is an 'insider' trick used at the Porsche dealership where my wife works for windows. Far more effective than the clay bar. To do this, it's very simple. Start with the window absolutely dry, no pre-cleaning necessary, and start rubbing until the glass feels smooth. It might take awhile for some stubborn stains but they will come out. One caution!! Be careful with the side mirrors, as they are not necessarily the same glass as the windows of the car. Recommended only for the outside glass, not the interior side. Thereafter, like the clay bar, you should maintain the windows with the glass cleaner and good wash technique to avoid future water spots. Adam's should offer some 0000 steel wool for glass....
caz681 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I have found that clay bar works great at removing hard water spots. I have even used it on the side mirrors of both of my vehicles (Audi and BMW), and it worked great there as well. For places where it can be hard to use the clay bar, some CLR sprayed onto a microfiber has been equally effective.
