86lxjunker Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Went to Mt Snow Vermont yesterday to participate in the 2012 Tough Mudder challange...and all I can say is .. boy what a challange it was. It was by far the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life.....there were four of us in our group and we had a good time, but man it was rough. It took us just over 5 hours to complete .... we must of went up and down that friggin mountain over 5 or 6 times - we lost count it was so many times. If you dont know what Tough Mudder is - check out there website....and let me tell you - what you see on the site is what you get....... Hoohaa !!!
Kustom_FX Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 CONGRATS! That is my goal before too long!! For anyone that dosent know what Tough Mudder is, its a 10-12 mile marathon obstacle course designed by retired military spec ops. All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project . This event is more about team work and helping your fellow mudder more than a one on one who can win competition. Again Congrats! That is an amazing accomplishment:2thumbs:!
86lxjunker Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 Thanks Scott !! It was truely an amazing experience and I am not your typical Tough Mudder type...I'm a big dude coming in at 6'4" 320 lbs... it was wicked hard. I started training for it last September - but I couldn't train for that friggin mountain....those black diamond ski slopes really kick my butt !! From my opinion that was the hardest challange the mile long Death March straight up the mountain.....but we did it like 5 or 6 times or even more !! . We saw a girl break or severly twist her ankle coming over one of those Berlin Walls....those sucked...especally for my buddies pushing my butt over !! LOL. All I cared about was finishing the Mudder and getting that PRIZED orange Head ban !!! I am going to wear it with pride all day tomorrow at work !! - Even though I work at a major insurance company as a white collar director !!
LFairbanks Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Congratulations on completing that. I think it is great when people put forth the effort to accomplish something like that. Or something that is beyond what they think they can complete. Most of it is mental, IMHO. Where I live they have something similair called the Dirty Dash. My brother does this every year. He used to do a lot of Marathons and has run the Boston.
86lxjunker Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 Here is a pic of me and my buddies immediately after the challange...I'm the big guy in the middle with the gotee.......proudly showing off my orange head band.... From left to right.... Brent - Rich - Me(Darrell) & Mike
Osok Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Congrats! My wife is running tough mudder vegas this October so i definitely know what you went through.
Bigredmariner Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Congrats man, I have a friend who did it in Austin last year. He said it was one of the hardest things he had ever done, this from a 32 year old guy who doesn't have an ounce of fat on him and is strong as an ox. You should be very proud of yourself.
