boilers38 Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I recently had some vandalism on my car resulting in a broken mirror and a small dent with cracked paint on my hood. I've gotten 2 estimates for the repairs and each place told me something different about blending the paint. Is it recommended for me to have them blend the paint between the hood and fender to match the color? I'm not sure if color matters but it is a Black 2012 Mustang. Thanks in advance for your help.
paoutdoorsman Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Blending simply tricks the eye so you don't pick up the change. If you panel paint, the sudden change on the panel line is much easier to notice. In a perfect world, if the new paint and old paint matched EXACTLY, you would not need to blend. I would blend.
70'sChevyGirl Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 My husband is a body tech and they always blend into the next panel.
txredgt Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Rule of thumb for a hood is both fenders and maybe start of the doors depending on where it needs to be done. I was going to shave the fender emblems on my 02 gt but after finding out about all of the blending it wouldn't be worth it. Close to painting the front half of the car basically.
