Paint transfer on focus pad

Question

So I was working on correcting the paint on my Camaro today. Well the front bumper was repainted awhile back at the dealership(along with the hood and rear half of the car). Anyways I was using the PC with the 4" focus pad on a speed of 4 just as suggested. Well I noticed that my pads were turning black during polishing with all three polishes. I didn't have this problem anywhere else on the car. Do you guys think I got shafted and they painted the front bumper with a single stage paint? Any ideas would be great.

They didn't leave it out... They plain used single stage paint. WTH? Two stage paint base color won't have a shine like single stage color.

I can't believe the crooks out there today.

No kidding. I even fixed the clear coat problems they left behind. Had to wet sand them out. Check the pics out.

Well, did you go over there and raise h-e-(hockey sticks) yet?

It's H-E double hockey sticks... ;)

For what it's worth. The paint on the front bumper is just as shiny as the rest of the car.

Take a fresh white towel, add a drop of SHR and rub it into an area of the repainted bumper. If you get color transfer they left out your clear coat.

Single stage will transfer to just about anything with a little rubbing... heck, some single stage cars I've worked on even turned my wash pads a tinge of their color.

One other possibility could be light over spray on those areas, and you buffed it off. Long shot but possible

Did you clay first? If you did that would remove the over spray.

Let me guess .. Typical GM dealer?

They pulled this on me once too. they had to repaint everything.

I had a similar issue recently, I realized my aftermarket painted spoiler was not cleared when I polished it for the first time. I did not get good results (lots of micro marring) and basically ruined some focus pads....pissed me off.
