JEFFYG Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I have a Subaru Outback that comprises the lower half of the door being made of painted plastic. Is it OK to machine polish the plastic? Or should I hand polish and apply VRT protectant?
Chewy Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 If it's painted like a most car bumpers, then YES! If it's bare plastic, then coat with SVRT. Let's see pics to verify though. Chris

Or should I hand polish and apply VRT protectant? If it is painted, treat is like the rest of the car. In the "least aggressive method first" approach, I would suggest a hand polish first, but FMP would be ok to. The main thing with plastic panels is to not get them too hot. The PC should be fine, but a Focus pad on a drill could cause a problem.
Team Adam's Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Most of the outbacks I see have unpainted cladding on them, so if thats what you're dealing with DO NOT polish... you'll just end up with stained plastic. Just clean and dress with SVRT.
