DAVE SXT Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Just heard that Carroll Shelby has passed away. I don't think there was anyone else who had such an impact in the auto industry. RIP Carroll Shelby.
IMADreamer Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Definitely a sad day. What's really ironic is I was working on an article about the original Cobra for my site when I got a text from a Buddy who has a personal connection to Shelby that said "it hasn't been released to the press, but Carroll passed today." It's a sad day for sure. What a true icon.
XQIZT Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Truly a sad day. RIP. As much of a Chevy guy as I am, as was my Dad, a dream car of mine is certainly a 427.
Guest Sarah@Adams Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 What an legend in our industry, he will be missed but never forgotten.
Rich Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Definitely a loss for the automotive world. A legend for sure.
THE Mook Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 MY heart hurts to hear this. He is and will always be a Legend in the industry. I wish his family and friends the best of times when it comes to grieving the loss. May he rest in peace. Which means, may he burn rubber everywhere he goes in his next life. Mook
Adroc33 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Man I'm not in the industry but am just a car nut and this makes me sad. RIP and my prayers and thoughts go out to his friends and family. A true American Icon!
ChargerMatt Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I'm not a fan of Ford, or even Mustangs, but the guy was a legend. RIP.
egott_91 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Wow! Definitely an icon in the industry and changed the mustang for the better with his packages. Definitely a loss for the automotive industry! RIP Shelby!
JerseyGator Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I'm busy at work and feel "gut" punched... We all knew it was coming but that doesn't make any easier. Godspeed Mr Shelby and please comfort his family... RIP
JerseyGator Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 What an legend in our industry, he will be missed but never forgotten. Amen...
ArablueRS3 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I'm not a fan of Ford, or even Mustangs, but the guy was a legend. RIP. Certainly your entitled to your opinion but...really?
07RS4 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I don't think there was anyone else who had such an impact in the auto industry. RIP Carroll Shelby. I heard this Henry Ford guy had a big impact:cheers:
Diggerdan11 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 That is sad news. Man it has been a crazy week and a half. Lost 3 people I had a lot of respect for.
Adam Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 What a guy, and what a legend in the history of American automobile enthusiasm... RIP Mr. Shelby.
txredgt Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Truly an American icon, most people don't know he was responsible for the viper as well. Another thought I've taken in about him is that there was no summit racing or jegs to call and order hi-po parts from.. They made them from scratch! Ingenuity and design along with a brilliant man go a long way. Rip mr. Shelby
Marylander Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Sad indeed. That guy poured gasoline on the American car passion for over 50 years -- and made it burn hot and bright for millions of people. He was an icon that will never be duplicated.
