Unveiled at MINI United (basically a massive party for MINI owners) It Does the ring in 8:23 seconds. Puts it at one of the fastest front wheel drive cars to go around there of all time. A whole 18 seconds faster then its 2006 Predecessor, reading through the last 4 years there was a mule spotted at the ring almost ever day, and we all guessed it was the 2nd GP. Next year they release the Coupe Variant

Only 2000 will be made and only 433 will be sent to the states just like they did with the 2006 GP. I want one I want One I want one! :willy::D

For those of you that dont know what the GP model is, its basically Mini's version of Audi's RS line or MB's AMG or BMW M's (but with limited runs) and they only come every 6 years

Nice man...I like anything in limited numbers :) When I get something, I don't want to see another one like most cars out there, but with only 433 in the states, and most being garage queens I would imagine, you know that's not going to be the case.

I'm assuming the waiting list is full? I haven't read the article yet....

Well, in 06 Mini's weren't near as popular as they are now, Im thinking these will be sold out almost immediately as soon as they open up orders. Actually in 06 there was one unsold at the dealership right next to mine when I took delivery of my first Mini. Since it was my first car i was already over extending my self getting an S model but for 4k more i could of had a GP (i wish i had)

The ONLY time i have ever seen a GP out in the wild was at a MINI meet, and it was trailered to it :lolsmack: it currently has 850 miles on it. Ashaim if you ask me, that car is still envied by many, including my self.

Mini hasnt released all the details and specs yet but if they follow exactly what they did in 2006 they will be ordered in august and be here by october. in 06 They were hand built in Italy but this time they will be hand built at the mini factory in Oxford England.

My lease will be out next year, im hoping to be able to catch the coupe variant of the GP :xfingers::D

Over 40k for a Mini...lmao!

Why is that funny? Cars these days are expensive, let alone a limited production car made in the UK. I feel the same way about paying $55K for a mustang...thats funny to me.

As 07RS4 said, cars these days are very expensive. However, if someone personally likes a car, and can afford it, who are we to care?

Personally, I think that Mini is bada$$! When I think of the price, a bunch of other cars pop into mind that I would rather get, but like I said for those that love the Mini's, that thing is a beast.

Yeah, i still cannot believe a gt nicely equipped goes for 40+ k. Sorry, it may be fast in a straight line but is a joke in the corners. For 40k ill take an audi TT bone stock and destroy a mustang on a track, Actually for 40k ill take the GP mini and destroy the mustang and the TT at the track.

According to his statement he would ROFLHAO if he knew how much I paid for my current mini and what i have into it. I don't get it, when people sit there and bash cars and their prices.Who cares how people spend their money, as long as it makes them happy why should anyone else care... Have you ever even sat in a MINI dude, let alone drive one to understand what they are? How can you compare a mini to an aveo, just because they're small?

When the GP coupe releases next year you can bet ill be the first one in line, ill camp out if i have to to get an order in. If my lease end fell this year you could bet I would be the first one in line for this GP.. I had a chance back in 06 to get that version and i regret it just about every day now....

And its not just 40k for a MINI its 40k for an amazing car that was developed at the ring and by John Cooper Works and BMW's M division. Which equals a pretty serious road & track car.....

I hope you get one man, that would be sweet. If you ever come across a Euro, Avant RS4...let me know, haha. Somehow one made it to the states, and was for sale at the end of last year through a local Audi performance shop for $55K, I wanted to get it without batting an eye...but my bank said :lol:and my wife said:iagree:.

Its funny at the same time you folks say i'm bashing the Mini...you try and bash Mustangs...lol. Sorry mine is fully equipped and i got it for 34K (listed for over 40K). Your a clown if you pay what a dealer wants for a car in this economy. And maybe years ago Mustangs were fast in a straight line...maybe you should do a little more research.

Yay! I love the "my car's better than yours" type of arguments. We don't normally get them here. :lurk::lurk:

   this isnt about paying a dealer what they're asking for a car (i agree, nobody should). BUT when its a limited run car and only X amount are being sent to the us you CANT HAGGLE THE PRICE. MINI is almost impossible to haggle with even with a regular mini..

Let me put this in a perspective you might understand.. ;)

Mini Cooper GP is a car that mini comes out with every 6 years. It is highly specialized/tuned car from John Cooper Works and BMW's M division. In the mustang world this Mini would be like the Shelby 1000..

I dont need todo research, ive driven a 2011 mustang GT, its bloody quick in a straight line..In the corners it is a joke. Maybe compared to older mustangs they handle better but compared to a tuned car like an Audi, bmw, and even my long wheel base Mini it has nothing on it. :lurk:

I'd pay big money for a special Mini over big money for a special Mustang.

This car makes me giggle thinking about how friggin fun it would be!

Thats one sharp looking mini too... probably an absolute blast to drive!

I think it's gotta be like the Carts at Unser Racing, except on Roids!!

Let's not get started on this back and forth about cars, although in general I must say Mustang owners are always the ones I get into arguments with (not pointing fingers just saying). For the GP's price, I'd pick for example an Audi over it just due to my preference for Audi's styling. Doesn't mean that the GP isn't as good, if not better.

Again, it all comes down to personal style. Everyone likes different types of cars/trucks, that's why there are so many different models! Else we'd all be driving around in the same vehicles; how fun would that be?

Bigblue11, I don't think anyone here is trying to bash on you on Mustangs, I guess your post about the price came off sort of arrogantly. But again this forum is too mature to go into those internet rage wars!

That's the one. I still haven't made my way out there yet...I need to talk with them about some upgrades. I need a little bit more than 450 ponies to move my fat pig around:).

That is awesome!!

8:23 for a front wheel car is damn quick. How do I know? My car (Chevy Cobalt SS/TC) holds the FWD production car lap record around the Nurburgring at 8:22.85!!! The Mini got pretty close!!

I encounter mini's at my local road track all the time and they seem like so much fun to drive, but what they're missing is straight line speed. Looks like they fixed that on this one!

About the money argument: $40K IS a lot (my car was $24K MSRP new) but in comparison to the Cobalt SS/TC it is much more exclusive due to the limited edition so understandably you pay for that. And it's an imports and the craftsmanship is a whole other level than a Cobalt!

I fully agree with Brendon's statements about the Mustang. Not bashing, simply stating my experience: I have yet to encounter a Stang that can hang with me at the track, and I've played with Shelby GT500's and Boss 302's. They are simply not designed or tuned for curvy road tracks. The only Ford that appears on the all time Ring lap records list is the GT. List of Nürburgring Nordschleife lap times - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Now having said that, I'm convinced that most Mustangs would murder me in a straight line :)
