70'sChevyGirl Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Neat video but I am not so sure I would want to be that close to them. Have you ever seen how crazy they get at the zoo???
LimitedDodge Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 WOW! Yeah that's a little to close for me.....ok way to close considering they or in his face!
ChargerMatt Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 That had to be the experience of a lifetime. Imagine how fast your heart would be beating... oh my
Chewy Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Amazing animals! That could have gone from an event like that to that guys arms and head being torn off in a matter of seconds. That SB was HUGE!
GaryW Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 I know it would be scary, heck the silver back could snap you half at will. Those things are huge... But that would also have to pretty darn neat to be that close and have them checking you out. But also if watched how the silver back controlled the little ones..

That would be the experience of a lifetime, would be such a terrifying and awesome experience.
LFairbanks Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Thats crazy, especially with young ones around. Those individuals in the film are probably related to Timothy Treadwell. Eventually your luck runs out, IMHO.
Isaacrn Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 That was an interesting video. Like others have said, that could have gone very ugly very quickly. It is definitely an experience of a lifetime.
gencoupe3dot8 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Remember Steve Irwin? While I appreciate this is an awesome, happy moment, it could have been completely different had the silverback felt that the babies were in danger. I think the key to the success of the outcome of this encounter was the guy basically didn't move, and his overall posture was submissive, keeping his arms in close and head down. You DO NOT want to smile at a gorilla in the wild.. it is seen as a threat... having the babies and female groom him is a sign he was accepted, so I wonder how much time he had spent with them.. the black shirt he had on probably didn't hurt.... ssbusdrvr Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Wow just Wow. Magnificent. Thanks for posting it Gary. After enjoying the Gorilla Trail at Animal Kingdom dozens of times could not imagine what that would be like. Unreal. Notice how he didn't look at the Silverback.Could kill you in an instant if threatened. Think would have been peeing myself lol.
BlueGenCoupe Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 That is incredible. I think I would have pooped myself like 7 times

While it was maybe crazy,, Just to see the Silver Back being so gentle and I guess to say human like.. Reach out and to signal to the young ones move over here,, then get up and walk off and the little ones follow.. Just WOW at how big poweful those creatures are. AMAZING..
