Why Two bucket wash? -- See inside

For those that doubt the WHY of a two bucket (at least) wash here is the answer:

ba49fc1d.jpg

That was on a vehicle that already had been:

1) Pressure washed

2) Foam cannoned (for those that believe the foam cannon may have magical lifting properties, it doesn't, but it does help suspend the dirt once is ha been agitated by the wash mitt and carry it safely off the car... cannons tend to help the foam dwell time on the car).

And the car wasn't really THAT dirty (or at least it didn't look so, but its silver....)

Having the grit guards in the bucket is also huge, not only to scrub the mitt against to dislodge dirt but they keep the grit from rising to the top of the bucket (for the most part)... they also make a great stand to blast you mitts when cleaning them.... just make sure to hold them down or you might blast the mitt off the guard...

(I tried to find another pic of this and couldn't in a search.. so for the new guys wanting to know if its worth the buckets and guards... I say YESSSS)

Here's a picture without the grit guards and out of the base (slightly lighter, now some of that is the pavement showing through). The wash bucket is fairly clean, but I hear what you are saying Dylan... I will be detailing a truck sometime soon and might add that third bucket myself...

Reflecting back to my bartending days and washing bar glasses and stemware...

We had three sinks. One to wash, one to rinse, then one to rinse again. The third bucket makes a ton of sense to me. Especially with dark paint and soft clear on the wife's Mazda6.

I remember being amazed the first time I did a 2 bucket wash. I used to think I was ok because I sprayed out the wash mitt between panels. But seeing all the dirt that was left in the 2nd bucket really surprised me.

Makes sense... larger vehicles definitely justify it... if you think in terms of the amount of grit potentially being removed, a small car and a large truck, given identical levels of dirt, will have vastly different end results with the water.

Part of my need for that 3rd bucket might be justified entirely on the fact that I have more square feet to deal with.

Dang...nasty. You guys have almost convinced me to get the third bucket, caddy and connector. Man, I will get more grief from the neighbors :). I think I will attach a rope to my bucket train so I can pull it around the vehicles easier.
