11chevz71 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I am pretty sure this was discused before but i had no luck finding it. So are there any tips from keeping my grit guard from moving around inside my adams wash bucket? Thanks
bigaudiofanatic Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Never had any "floating issue" however some good ideas have been posted.
Corners Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Mine don't move, I have the new Adam's 5gal. buckets. As a matter of fact, I didn't have a problem with my old buckets either. 5 Gallon Bucket? I must be looking in the wrong place unless it the one for $59.95. Just can't find it. I have six of the regular ones but want to get two of the 5 gal ones.
Chewy Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Shear brilliance! I have the same problem and it just frustrates me. I'll spend 5 mintes wrestling with the bucket and hose trying to get that last bit of dirty water out of the bucket!!!! I end up wet, get water on the car/truck..... Chewy, you are my hero! At least for today. Hahaha... No problem! I've been using these buckets for a few seasons now and I forget to do the sealant fix EVERYTIME! Every time I rinse them out they peeve me off!
ktn65 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Rinse the buckets away from the clean vehicle. Huh? Yeah like that's gonna work! WAY to easy!

ktn65 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I also need to put a bead of caulk around the top lid mount. I hate that I can NEVER get all the water out of the buckets because it gets trapped in the lip. Chris Shear brilliance! I have the same problem and it just frustrates me. Integrity Detailing, LLC Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 God, I don't know how you put up with that....what a PITA:willy: I won't anymore. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
07RS4 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I would just hold it still with one hand and scrub the pad on it with the other. God, I don't know how you put up with that....what a PITA:willy:
PacificNWBuckeye Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I'm going to have to try the zip ties, cause mine float, spin and generally move around.
Integrity Detailing, LLC Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Zip ties! Duh! The duh is for me not thinking of doing that. :banghead: I would just hold it still with one hand and scrub the pad on it with the other. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
PirateGoat Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I like this idea. My "dirty" bucket the grit guard fits snug I can dump the bucket out and the grit guard doesnt move at all, but my "clean" bucket the grit guard moves freely. I now know what I will be doing before my next wash
BlueGenCoupe Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I've been on the forum for 2 years and I had no idea about this trick!
Chewy Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Yeah, mine are Adams everything and they haven't fit since day one. I also need to put a bead of caulk around the top lid mount. I hate that I can NEVER get all the water out of the buckets because it gets trapped in the lip. Chris

They have to be different sizes...meaning thousands of an inch Chris. I'm sure the plastic molds aren't that precise...because mine spin like 22" dub spinner's:lol: if I didn't have the caddy's. When I put my wash media in the bucket, I twist instead of a back and forth movement, and the spinning is no bueno.

Chewy Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I use the zip ties also! Here is what it looks like with the zip ties on the grit guard. Another idea that others use is to tighten the thumb screws in the bucket caddy to squeeze the bucket so the grit guard doesn't move. This grit guard still moves around a bit, but this guard is in my soap bucket where if it moves around a little bit more I don't care as much. This is what I did!
07RS4 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 ^^^Great ideas..... The caddies will prevent it from moving and/or floating. The thumb screws are directly in line with the grit guard. Tighten them down in between the braces on the grit guard and it won't budge....like Matt already said.
DaveVY Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I use large zip ties at 90 degree locations around the outside of the grit guard. I put the locks out since I needed them to take up more space. ChargerMatt Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I have no issue with this, but I use the bucket caddy. It has tightening screws around it to hold the bucket in and I think this keeps them snug.
