Even $70 is pushing it for a wash/wax job only.

I agree. I usually do not offer regular wash jobs unless they are for returning customers wanting their last detail work I did to last properly. I couldn't imagine charging that much for a first time customer knowing that the car probably needed more work done before throwing some wax on it, but to each their own on this subject.

Yes I guess the combo would be machine sealant 30min, then glaze or Glaze minimal wait and follow up with butter/Americana.

once again, using a pc pad on a non clayed car, no issues?

The curing time on MSS is roughly 12 hours. QS is about a 30 minute cure time. Check out this thread that may help.

As for polishing on top of paint that hasn't been clayed, I agree with savi01. You may end up moving contaminants around on the pad.

Another way to go about this is to avoid using any machine polishing and just give a really good 2 bucket wash, QS (if you have it, if not then skip a sealant for now) and throw some wax on by hand for a little protection and shine.

I have come to the conclusion that I will not do simple wash/wax jobs... because I cannot do them and be happy with myself or the job.

The car has to be seen and felt in order to do an accurate quote. I will always do the tires/wheels. If windows are badly water spotted I will do those also.

For me, the condition of the car when the owner drives away is a reflection of the quality of my work and so it has to be something that I can be happy to have my name on. So I won't do simple washes, unless it is a returning customer, but even then a simple wash will include door jambs, tires, wheels, windows and interior wipe down.

Using a PC on a nonclayed car I think might have the pad pick up contaminants and possibly swirl the paint rather than fix that issue I think, not too sure!

This is hard for me to answer since I am too concerned with getting the paint corrected properly but if that is what your customer wants.

You mention using the PC for the sealant. Are you planning for the allowed curing time after the MSS before moving on? If not then use QS and allow for the 30 minute curing process and glaze/wax away.

I'm sure others here will also chime in on this too.

On that note, is it ok to do just a wash/dry/sealant/wax on a car that hos not been clayed?

If using say the PC for sealant and wax, any harm to the pad?

Thanks

around 2.5 hours is about right for a car exterior only on a pretty well maintained car. probably more like 3.5-4 for me if were talking engine bay and other goodies or a nasty rig. Time can add up fast if someone drops me off a mudslinger haha. but with 6 GW towels, master blaster and sidekick, the job is made much easier. In Dylan's 3 wash vid I believe he did his in like an hour and 20 or something, which is right about where I stand. Having OCD helps alot with attention to detail haha, but mutant robot describes me well in that aspect :D. I think much over 3 hours for a wash and wax and people would start to get impatient, I dont like to waste any of their or my time if I dont have to. As for the OP, pick up that SVRT and cleaner cleaner/sealant pronto. they help alot as with most any Adams products :2thumbs:.

If its a standard size car with no interior work...maybe 45 minutes to wash, with tire and wheel cleaning, 15 minutes to dry, 20 minutes to glaze, 20 minutes to wax, 10 minutes to seal glass and maybe 5 minutes to SVRT the tires. I may take a little longer with customer cars, but its hard to justify a higher price to most people. Even $70 is pushing it for a wash/wax job only.

Meh I think I could do it 3 hours maybe 3.5 now if I had a master blaster or something to blow dry with might make a bit of a different story

wow 2 hrs for a wash, dry, seal, glaze and wax?? you guys are mutant robots.

I would love to see that in person and still paying attention to detail...

Alright thank you guys..sadly that's my only problem no svrt yet or glass cleaner/sealant. But aqs on windows I could do

Add tires and glass, and I'd go with $70. Its going to take you about 2 hours. Assuming its a standard car....minivans/SUVS would be more.

^^^ This, I charged $100 for a wash/clay/seal window&paint a bit back. so id say 70 is a pretty good number, matter where you live too, prices will change.
