Just wondering

Question

I've noticed lately in doing washes/details over the course of a day that my big toe now ends up hurting quite a bit by the end of the day from squatting down and being rolled up onto just my toes.

Anyone else run into this? I've tried to be a bit more conscious now of using a rolling chair to sit on and do the lower half of the vehicles. I think just over time from supporting all of my weight on my toes like that I probably injured the joint or something.

To borrow a photo here: It's this position that seems to cause me injury at this point. Notice how his foot is rolled up onto just his toes. I don't or haven't used anything to knell on before it was always just me squatting down like that balancing just on my toes.

Thoughts?

Is that what they call turf toe? OR are you and me both starting to get arthritis in the little joint?!?!

I am not a fan of sitting down to detail, but if this persists, a Rolling Detail Seat is in my future. If I go this route, I will get an additional beer, errr, bottle holder to put underneath on that rack.

My toe never hurt while kneeling down simular to that pic but on the ground.. But my butt hurt for the next 2 days lol! I'd say the seat would def help with your toe problem ☺

A hoist would solve everything! lol Yeah, I've gotten that before. I sit on my creeper seat though.

I have a stool w/ rolling casters (can be found at Lowes/Home Depot) that I use for all lower parts of my car. Any of the seating options listed above would prevent this awkward positioning of your toes and reduce back strain.

So some others have experienced this eh? Im definitely going to the rolling chair more often. Wouldnt you know though i just got done cleaning the interior of the camaro and found myself squatting on my toes a lot to get down into it. That camaro sits pretty low.

Yep. And working on the Vette seems harder than the Impala. It's so bad now that I actually LAY DOWN on the ground and work on it. At 65, it's either sit down or lay down. No more squatting or kneeling for me.

Vette looks great by the way.

I either sit on my butt or I lay down on the ground. I get more control out of the machine and it's more comfortable as opposed to the method you're using. Although if somebody walked in, it would look pretty funny!
