XQIZT Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 The coffee thread got me thinking...what other "connoisseurs" or "enthusiasts" do we have here, other than detailing? Personally, there are a few things I like to take time on and "get into." 1) Cigars...yea yea...smoking is bad for you...but about once a month, the hankering hits. A good "daily" cigar: Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 Natural (about $7). For you big spenders, Greycliffe Espresso Torpedo Shagfoot (no, it doesn't taste like coffee, about $35 a stick) 2) Whiskey...I'll try any of them. My favorite right now is Bushmill's 10 year aged. Put 2 ice cubes in and chhhiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllllll.............. So what else, fellow Adam-ites?

GaryW Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Cycing.. If I am not at work or detailing. I can be Found on my Trek hitting it down the road for a good work out.. Like 3-4 hours. Nothing more relaxing to me than sweating it off in 95 degree sunshing heat.
J Tegeler Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 1) shooting guns with friends (anythign from the .22 to the AR15 or 9mm) 2) fishing has been a hobby of mine that fades in and out but I always enjoy it when I go 3) motorcycling I can never get enough of that one! love looking at bikes and love riding mine any time I can And like detailing, I go overboard with the amount of time and money I put in to these hobbys If I get in to something I always devote a lot of time to it and get the proper gear for it..thats what landed me on Adam's for detailing
Tebsy Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 New to the forum, figured this would be a good place to start Aside from detailing, for me in no particular order: Music, Films/Home Cinema, Cars, Video Games.
Chewy Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Nothing comes to mind... I have many things I like to do, but can't really limit it to one. Right now, my house and the landscaping is my focus. I have a corner lot and since it's a bit of a focal point, I want it to stand out. (in a positive way)
G8chick Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 1. Flyball- like drag racing with dogs 2. Agility and disc with my dog 3. Hiking 4. Cruising I love cruising in my sexy car lol 5. Hanging outside enjoying the weather with my horses 6. Movies I love watching movies
ChargerMatt Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Golfing, bowling, pool, and drinking in general. Like the OP, I'm a big whiskey guy. I normally don't buy the super expensive bottles but I normally keep a fifth of Jameson at my desk. Jameson > Wild Turkey > Anything Else > Jack Daniel's
Z71_Denali Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 hunting, sporting clays, anything that involves shooting something beer, i love craft beer, and i enjoy homebrewing i like to think of myself as a self-taught mechanic. i don't know everything but i do enjoy turning a wrench! only sport i'm enthusiastic about is college football i play on a company softball team which is fun, but i can't watch MLB on the TV, puts me to sleep. right now, i'm focused on building this house! flooring is going in this week and i'll be discussing landscape design with them soon.

Wow you and I have too much in common. I also shoot competitive Clay Sports, I love College football and MLB puts me to sleep as well (on tv only). I am also working on re-modeling my house which is taking up a lot of my time. I also golf, I use to golf a lot but it has been a couple years since I have played. I have a huge movie collection and listen to a ton of music. As far as being a connoisseaur, I consider myself a connoissear of Clam Chowder and Mexican Food. If I go somewhere and they have Clam Chowder I have to order it and test it out. And I eat a ton of Mexican food every where I can.
SLOWpoke Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Like Ryan above me, I consider myself a "self-taught mechanic" and engineer, I enjoyed at one point when I had time restoring motorcycles and building motorcycles. My latest almost from scratch will probably be my last for a while as I just don't have the time like I used to when I was in medic school plus I've kinda run out on motorcycles for a while...but hopefully my first semi car build will happen shortly! Other than that I like movies a lot and I consider myself somewhat of a Rum connoisseur And I enjoy combat sports..mainly MMA but I love all of the aspects of MMA as much separately as I do all the different techniques put together. I've always loved wrestling and kickboxing then I when I started to train I fell in love with jiu jitsu. MMA sorta consumes my life in general..news apps on religiously checked on phone, I'll stop a detail go watch the fights on TV then go back and finish the detail that night sometimes at 1AM!! lol Its all consuming, and for me, fighting crosses ALL cultural, religious, and national boundries, as every nation and culture on the planet for hundreds of years has had SOME sort of fighting "style" and its neat to really see the evolution of all of that blasted into your TV screen making you yell and scream for your favorite athlete..its much more than Affliction shirts and KOs to me
BlueGenCoupe Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Hockey - Used to play twice a week, but work has cut into my playing time so im down to 1 day a week
LFairbanks Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I don't consider myself a really a connoisseur of anything. I would consider myself well rounded in a wide variety of things. Whether it be construction (anything to do with a house), photography, fixing a vehicle. I will buy books and special tools before I let anybody repair it for me.
TK427 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Considering it took me eight years to buy this bike in particular, I would say I am an avider rider:D MInt "96" VMax/ 8k original miles:banana:
colodude18 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Racing. Not competitively, just driving around a track and finding the limit of the car and my own ability. Being one with the vehicle. It's an adrenaline rush AND a very relaxing experience all at the same time. If I could afford it, I'd be at the track every weekend. Or, as I sometimes jokingly tell my (preferably golfing) friends: I prefer a sport that required TWO balls. lol
matts88yj Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 1 ) Cigars. I guess you could say I'm into cigars. I have a humidor that holds about 400 so I would imagine that I qualify since it's now sitting about 3/4's full I've been a fan of Drew Estates, 5 Vegas and Ave Maria lately. 2 ) Detailing. It's been a side job of mine for over 8 years. I just can't seem to get away from it! 3 ) Photography. I'm getting into this more and more. I used to shoot photos of rock crawling and rock racing teams a few years back until my friend decided not to pay me for the work. I then quit. Still have a passion for it just need to get my own gear. 4 ) My Jeep. We have a love, hate relationship but it was my first ever vehicle and I'm going to keep it forever. Yeah she looks like poop right now and in need of some serious body work and paint but she runs like a champ. I've always been into rock crawling and before anyone says it's just for some drunk redneck hillbillys look up some of the feeds from the King Of The Hammers race. Plus I actually went out and cleaned up the trails from others that think it's a land fill. Pack in, pack out people!!!
