When to wash during machine polishing

The only time I would wash would be after the polishing to be sure the oils are removed before machine super sealant, but even then I don't wash, but just do a wipe down with IPA or use revive polish.

If the polish was dusting alot I would consider a quick wash to remove it before applying the sealant/wax.

Could you just use detail spray since it is polish and not dirt?

Wasted effort IMO unless you get an extreme amount of dusting or the vehicle sits for an extended period of time during your process untouched.

 

For most dusting all I need is the sidekick and a little waterless wash.

Sure DS or Dylan's suggestion of WW would work. I have only done this once and it was really just to show off the foam gun to my neighbor when I was polishing his wife's car (I traded him drywall repair for a polish).
