Favorite Non-Detailing Tool Used For Detailing

Question

Posted

Saw a similar thread somewhere else and figured I'd ask on here.

What are your favorite non-detailing tools that you like using for detailing?

GUM Soft-Picks

These have nice soft bristles on one end. Good for your teeth but great for very small spots that you just can get clean unless you have something very small.

1" disposable foam paint brushes for SVRT on narrow or hard to reach areas. Like under the wipers on the cowl, or narrow rubber window moldings.

I haven't found one that wasn't Hecho in China, but they look nice to use!

Really? Our True-Value has them made in the USA.

A few years ago I was in a cosmetic store with my wife, my sister and my niece (3 separate people) and there was a display of foam tip applicators (for eye makeup). I grabbed a handful to show my wife, to tell her I wanted some. I was met the saleswoman who was having a hard time keeping a straight face as I explained what I wanted them for. She let me keep the samples. Very handy though.

I also use make up applicators for the VRT on the window sills and other small areas. Then I never have to clean up the glass or paint!!!

I get gloves from my wife (works at a surgery center in the materials dept), I get medical masks (when dust is too much and I'm a little under the weather with a sore throat) from her, I get my foam block applicators from the 2x2' packing foam (egg carton style) she brings home from work (i have tons), she brings me long q-tip swabs, wooden with cotton on one end, but Mook already beat me to my primary non-detailing tool that gets the job done faster and helps me focus -

My stereo in my garage.

I have a 1000 sf detached double garage that I have to fill with everything from old school Rush, to Chimaira and Inhale/Exhale while I detail. Without that, the job would NEVER get finished right.

+1 on the music.

It really is nice when vacuuming interiors in garages, polishing paint, or buffing of the wax/sealant. It will really highlight dirty wells, crud in crevices, etc. when doing the final inspection.

It is hands free.

Plus - the girls think you're really HOT when you're wearing it.

Fenix makes some nice stuff, Al. I thought about picking one of those up here a couple of weeks ago. Went with a Black Diamond one however because of the difference in weight. Using it for and outdoor adventure that I have planned, and weight was an important factor for me.
