THE Mook
Morn! I was able to help out JD_SS from House of Shine this past Saturday for a return customer. Some of you may remember us touching this car the first time, http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/detailers-write-ups/14358.htm. Not the ideal day for detailing a car... Add a little rain to that, and JD and I both were worried about getting the thing back to the customer in that little window of the day when the weather would break. The car came to use dirty and with the overcast sky, it was hard to determine just what we were up against, once we got it clean. You can see that the protection we added to the paint last fall was still holding up pretty nice. We made sure to add 3oz of APC into the Wash Bucket, and another 2 oz of APC into the Foam Gun, so that we could remove all remaining protection. Process: Clean and Dress Wheels/Tires/Wheel Wells Clean and Dress Engine Bay Two Bucket, Foam Gun Assisted Wash Scrub Front Mats Dry with Sidekick and Great White Drying Towel Clay Bar with DS as Lube On the Flex Machine: 2 passes SSR 2 passes SHR 2 passes FMP Quick Sealant on a Hand Hex Grip Applicator BG on a BG Pad, Flex, Speed 2 APW to finish with All trim dressed with In and Out Spray All tires dressed with SVRT Wheel Wells addressed with UCS Interior Cleaned with LIC and dressed with LC All Glass Clayed and treated with BG Exhaust tips cleaned with .0000 Steel Wool and APC Exhaust tips polished on a 4" Pad with MP #1 and MP #2 Wheels polished with Revive Wheels sealed with Quick Sealant (different applicator than the paint) I may have forgetten something in there. Engine: (I faILed to snap a pic before Hosey McHoserson decided it was bath time) Good thing that's not my engine smoking! okay, that's just In and Out Spray. Fin! The Tips: I can't stop staring at the rocks in the reflection. Here is JD working the Front Mats with APC and our new Wheel Woolies. The Big one is awesome for this we learned. A Couple Finished Interior Shots: Look at the difference In and Out Spray makes on the little boots inside the door hinge. Guess it needed Clayed. Ready for Pre-Correction Inspection. Some before shots up close. Notice the hard water stains and also swirling. JD and I had our work cut out for us today. Tuning our process in took a little bit of time...here are some progression/discovery pics. I think we decided that "As close to perfect as this was going to get" was here. 2 Passes each SSR, SHR, FMP, yielded us very nice results. JD said smile, I was like, "for what, the yearbook photo?" JD touching up the trim and making sure the magic polish dust was gone before Tony and Robbie showed up. Some Results shots! I loved how this car turned out. The Wheels, Interior, Engine Bay all came out fantastic. I was very pleased with the paint turnaround too. Because of the sky, you wouldn't be able to tell how bad those water spots really were. I was leaning pretty hard at times on the Flex. Notice in the last couple shots...you may see our next project! Gotta do it... JD and I CAN'T WAIT to get our hooks into this! Thank you for stopping in. Mook

THE Mook
You guys did great....how was the Audi clear working for you? Thank you. To be honest, it was tougher this time to remedy than last time. I have no idea why, but the last time it was like butter in my hands. This time the paint showed up angry with a tattoo on it's face, ready to take it's tiger back from the bathroom. JD_SS
Good writeup Chris! That was a LOT of polishing. I'm still sore all over. And to think it only took 4 hours or so? Was a great detail and we ended the day with a big hug from the happy owner!

THE Mook
Thank you for the kind words everyone! I kept telling JD, and the owners, that I would love to have that as a daily driver. Great looking car too. For a wagon, IMO it's the perfect size.
