Question about Adams clay

Clay plastic package says "made in china".

 

The plastic container with the Adams logo says "made in the USA".

 

So.....which is true?

Not sure I've seen any bars that say "made in China" but last I checked they were all stamped "made in Japan". In any event the product page spells out exactly why you're seeing that:

NOTE: Current US patents prohibit the sale of certain types of clay within the United States. These patents expire at the end of 2012 at which time Adam's will again have control over the choice of clay included with our kits. Until then all kits will include clay marked 'Made in Japan'. So long as ITW/AutoMagic controls the US clay patent we have very little, if any control over where the clay bars we are sent come from.
