1st time with Flex and Adams products...

So.Chi.Goat

Question

Ok so sunday I decided to take a whack at some of these swirls and scratches with the flex...I went over my buddys house and we started with some full effect wheel cleaner then a foam gun wash, rinse, foam again, rinse, detail spray then gwdt to dry, then we did the engine bay (it was hot from the drive so we waited till the headers and block cooled down a bit)....then i clayed her while my friend taped her off and my test spot...after three passes of ssr, 2 shr and 1 of fmp I got....

Starting with before shots...

Looking good.

A couple small things though:

1) Lying pads on the ground is asking for trouble. You cold pick up a rock/dirt/general badness that isn't good for your paint. Especially the PC with the pad on it's side.

2) Did you have Ray Charles tape up your door handles????

Right now, your paint is "naked." You need to get some sealant/glaze/wax on there. Those products will also add to the depth/shine.

Yes I would like more feedback as well.

Feel free to call hijack and I will move to a new thread.

I have many the same "issues" as you

1. first time I laid hands on any polisher it was my new FLEX.

2. I still have sratches too. I can not catch fingernail.

Work product, flash. Detail spray, work again, detail spray, work again

spped was 4, since anything faster would dust in less than a up/down- sideside cycle.

3. I was kinda expecting more with all the passes SSR, SHR, FMP. granted my truck has 155K on the clock but I have seen much worse "disappear" in the pics I have seen on the forum.

As have I....I posted this in hopes maybe one of the big wigs would dial in and say something...Dylan, chewy....mook...anybody....with ssr I started on 6 and finished on 5 with the shr I did full passes on 4 1/2 to 5 and with fmp I went speed 3...then I topped it with bg and apw....I feel I could have gotten more swirls and scratches out but I did good for my first time...I'm trying again next week...IPA spray down and repolish....I got the sides close as I could to perfect the hood, roof and trunk lid needs to be polished further...the sides could use another pass of shr and fmp...my car wash never polished in 103000 miles so I'm suprised it came out this good...I wonder how fast should I move the machine I didn't want to burn thru the paint...

Ssr is mostly solids, so it will appear to dust more, have detail spray handy.

One thing I have learned is that no matter how much you watch the videos, nothing beats experience. You'll get there, be patient.

you know another good question I got is:

when, as far as weather conditions can you run the flex on 6?

it is 90ish degrees and 50% humidity here in memphis.

I been running the flex on 4 to stop the dusting. Which I dont mind cause when you look at the numbers the flex on 4 is the PC on 6.(basically)

also did you get that truck lid scratch free? if so thats awesome!:2thumbs:

how many passes to do that?

No that trunk is still scratched slightly...I'm taking another shot at it next week...it was 90+ in Chicago when I polished my car and it was on 6....detail spray stayed handy...I got majority of the scratches off my car..about 85%....I'm going to move the machine a little slower cuz I was moving pretty fast maybe 5 inches in 2-3 seconds...I was worried about burning my paint but its not as bad as I thought....so ill take it down...for one I don't think I used enough polish...I used 3 pea sized dots instead of the x, or the 5-6 it says on the bottle...I'm going to do some more research and go at it again....it can only get better.

ok cool.

you know I never once was scared about burning paint, I actually held it in place and applied pressure just to see how hot it would get. and you know it wasnt that bad.

I am sure you could burn the crap out of it, I am going to say it have to be a serious brain fart by someone not paying attention. (but I am FAR from any expert)

I too read the bottle and used 6-8 drops, then switched to the line of polish.

I kinda thought hitting it with detail spray everytime it dusted made the polish runny, then again I may have not added enough polish.

dont take it wrong, but it makes me feel a bit better you stil had some left on the trunk. I had some like that and was wondering why they were still there. So looks like me and you are somewhat on the same path.
