Can Adam's APC be used for bug removal and stuff similar to some of the citrus products? I assume it strips the wax/sealer if used that way.. but can it damage paint?

Bugs are a real pain to remove IF you don't stay on top of your cleaning routine.

It's just become a daily routine with me and takes about 10 -15 minutes, depending on how thick the bugs are.

I took advice from the guys on the forum and watched the video Adam made about using Quick Sealant on the front of your ride. Once I get the entire truck/car cleaned, I put on my first coat of QS on the front of both vehicles. Let it dry, wipe it, apply second coat, dry, apply third coat and dry/wipe. When you get home at the end of the day, you can almost "flick" them little suckers off with your fingers.

I just take a bottle of WW and WW towel, spray very lightly where a few bugs may be and simply wipe them off with a SS towel. Also do that to both of my chrome mirrors.

Additionally, if you do that the second you park your car, the grill, etc will still be nice and warm. Bugs even come off easier that if you let the car sit overnight.

It just takes a few minutes of your time and once you get into the routine of doing that it makes life so much easier.

Last weekend I stripped some trim... tires and ever tried a few things around the house that needed a cleaning.. with Adams APC and another brand that is citrus based, paint safe and actually a bit more expensive.

I have to say I was impressed with Adams APC even diluted 50/50 it held is own...

Question: if I run 50/50 should that be fine for engine degreasing etc. or what are some of the dilution ratios you guys are using for different things.. engines, tires, fender wall etc.

2nd question: what is the fundamental difference between APC and Adam's interior cleaner. Why would I want to use the interior clear vs. a higher dilutions of APC... I've heard it is more acidic than APC but I'm trying to understand the difference between the cleaners..

I'd just like to say that I use straight APC on almost everything. I have several pieces of painted car parts (doors, etc) laying around and I let APC dry out in the sun on an old fender, and the paint was not visibly harmed at all. Now, I wouldn't recommend doing that on your car, but I just want people to understand that diluting it isn't always necessary.

As far as what most people do, 50/50 is a safe ratio for pretty much everything. If you are worried about what affect it can have on some metals, I'll confirm the "APC + Aluminum = bad" theory. It made a small chunk of aluminum have faded spots, but most of it came off with some generic brand metal polish.

Interior cleaner is made specifically for cleaning interior plastics and leathers which only get exposed to certain kinds of dirt and weather. APC is made for cleaning everything, but specifically for exterior paint and trim. The APC is strong without harming the paint, and if you dilute it it won't hurt plastic (interior or otherwise). Interior cleaner is better for plastics and the such then APC (which can fade some plastics), but it might not be paint safe.

If you plan to use it for softening bug guts (I do) then a mixture at 1:1 is more than aggressive enough for most uses. So long as you do not allow it to dry on the finish or spray it on the paint while its hot theres no reason to be afraid to use it.

It will definitely remove whatever wax or sealant you have on there so be sure to reapply protection when you're done.

It's great for getting off fresh road tar. I came home the other night after detailing my Camaro and had to drive thru some recent construction.

Got out my car to see to my horror a ton of tar on the side of the car. It was still wet so I hurried over the closest power wash place, sprayed on the APC and let it sit for about 5 minutes and then washed the tar off like it was nothing. I love this stuff.

After that went back home, did a final wipe down with some water less wash and reapplied some wax to that part of the car.

just to clarify, for an Adam's Strip Wash, it's 2-3 oz added to the car shampoo mixture, correct?

Yes.

Nice. It does work great for that.... I've had a few of those 'emergency' road tar cleanings. Always a big relief when it comes off easy.
