detail tape

Question

I have watched a bunch of videos and searched tape and detail tape and have not found any discussions about it. I assume it is used so you don't burn through on the edges of panels but does the area covered with tape not get polished or detailed as well? Just looking for info.

Thanks

Mark

Couple reasons to use tape:

1) Tape up trim, so you don't get polish abrading and possibly staining trim. Another thing is polish likes to stick to trim and become very hard to remove. This avoids that.

2) Tape up edges, as that is where the thinnest paint is, thus that is where the highest chance of polishing through the clear or the entire paint system is.

3) Often times, you tape up edges, and then remove it and do those areas as best as you can... by hand.

4) Tape makes for great 50/50 shots.

or the medical tape used when they draw blood..

I had my arm waxed this morning taking it off, and the other arm last week..

Yeah, when I give blood the tape removal (or should I say hair removal) hurts more than the needle!:willy:
