ExpressThis13
Ok so heres a little update. I went in yesterday to sign my life away and pick up the truck. Had my folks with me as my dad had not seen it and I wanted to get his opinion on it before I jumped into a new truck as he is old and has dealt with this kinda stuff before lol and he loved it. The color the power and the way it looked and drove. He was all smiles when he punched it and felt the 395 horse kick in lol he said he would get in trouble with it lol. Anyway so we get back and of course they had it all cleaned up and such and I had previously told my salesman and manager I did not want the truck touched with any sort of buffer, sealant, wax, or anything and they agreed. They did however wash it which I was ok with as it was touchless and it had very very minimal swirls if any which really shocked me. So let me get to the bad part. My dad has noticed a couple spots where it almost looked as if either the clearcoat had faded or they burnt the freakin clearcoat buffing. I asked they had not buffed it and I agreed because we all know it would have been swirled up like crazy and it wasnt. So the salesman gets one of the detail guys and he comes out sprays it down with some DS and then wipes off of course with a cheapo microfiber so boom swirls SOB oh well I have the tools to fix it. Spots still there. So then he procedes to hit it with some claybar. Ok sure spot still there. At this point swirls are here just within 5 minutes oh well I can fix the swirls are not my concern at this point the blemishes in the paint are. So the detailier suggest maybe a light buff can take it out. Great here we go so I ask what kinda buffer is it (already knowing its going to be a forced rotation) long behold "dewalt" he says oh great called it. so truckk comes out swirl city which I expected and I asked the guy how fast he ran he said light at 600rpm with light compound. Spots are gone. Great truck looks good besides swirls but my dad calls out my name and motions me over and has me look down the side of the truck. Long behold there is a dent/wave approx 6in long vertically right above the rear wheel. At this point im frustrated beyond measure I shouldnt have to go through all this crap for a brand new truck and the salesman, my folks, and myself all know the dents were not there before it went in for the detail. So he goes and gets the salesmanager and as their walking outside I notice about 4 more on the hood. WTH now im fuming. The salesmanager and salesman walk around looking for more and thats all they find. So the salemanager comes up and says it will be takin care of early next week. I told him im not signing a thing until this trucks meets my standards and right now it doesnt. He starts to snippy saying if you wanna let a couple little dents/waves stop you from signing this truck then thats your call but im telling you it will be perfect. I shoot back telling him im not signing because this truck has less than 20 miles on it and im spending 35k on a truck its gonna be perfect and right now its not. Its new not used! and im not signing my name to a 35k truck knowing about the dents based on your word not happening. So he says he will get in the bodyshop and get it taken care of. It will be perfect for you or the next guy and walks off. So at this point I ask the salesman for the keys to MY truck and he says to me this truck will be perfect before I take delivery and he will get it in the body shop first thing and give me a call when its done. Sorry about the story guys but I just wanted to give an update and for those of you who dont know im only 26 so I guess the salesmanager sees a young kid who doesnt know jack and he is far mistaken. At this point im not sure what to do. Heres a couple options im thinking right now. 1. They fix the truck get it perfect and I drive away in it but I will also know what I had to go through as far as paint and dents and im afraid that will always be stuck in my head. 2. They find me a different truck same color with standard mirrors express model n such and I go from there 3. I tell the dealership to stick it where the sun dont shine and I take my business elsewhere. So what would you guys do. besides the spots and a couple dents the truck was awesome. Paint looked great out in the sun I could only imagine it will some BG and americana on it and some contioner or vrt on the interior.
ECaulk
Personally I'd be going with #3, they acted in a very disrespectful way towards you, there has to be other dealers in the area that will treat you with respect no mater what your age is
Guest Gone & Forgotten
Tell em to pound sand. Does the express have adjustable air suspension? That's the one I want. But me is upside down in my '12 Silverado. Booooooo.

Booooooo. Yeah Eric, if you don't feel good about it, trust your feelings!!!!! Is this Key you're dealing with or Kimberly? I don't believe the Express has the air option. I got the air on my Sport and can't wait to get it. I'm envious of Eric getting his so soon! I can't wait! Sent from my miniaturizer via tap dancing... Chewy
Its key chris. Who did you order yours through? sent from tapatalk using my thumb We get ours through Enterprise leasing which usually ships them into Key. Key was the one I picked up the G8 from. They were supposed to not install the front plate, yet they did! They did leave it untouched otherwise and I had to remove all the goo and stuff from the shipping plastic. 35 seems a little high IMO Eric, but it's not bad. Have you registered on http://www.ramforum.com? It wouldn't be a bad idea to ask them and run it by the members there. It's a pretty good site. Sent from my miniaturizer via tap dancing... needham
yeah man, inspect it closely....I guess Ram has had paint issues in the past...orange peel and such straight from the factory......with the worker situation at the warren plant right now I am scared to death and worried if I get mine when it comes in without issue. Ron Meadows
There is absolutely no way that I would pay new price for a vehicle that's had body/paint work done on it. Find another truck, give them the option if you wish, or find another dealer. Do not accept that truck.

BrianT
Run away, don't walk!! It's not worth it, it's not gonna be perfect, the metal is already stretched, find a new truck to buy!!!
G8chick
I used to work at a dodge dealership, and we always had vehicles on the lot with what looked like a dull spot in the paint, some were small and some were huge, the trucks were prone to this on the hood. Almost every model came in with a vehicle with this flaw( usually on hoods or door frames, trunk lids)

G8chick
Not sure if my work reported it or not.. They just hoped people wouldn't notice, and you have to watch out for their chrome clad wheels. They can come pitted and stained before the even get to the dealership
ExpressThis13
What the dealership thought it was is the glue paper that they use to protect the truck messed with the clear. That was their thought anyway so I dunno. sent from tapatalk using my thumb
G8chick
Glue paper? When all the trucks came in ( up here anyways) they didn't have any plastic on the exterior other then the door handles. Journeys are the only ones that came in with plastic on roof hood and fenders. But could be different there

I actually bought a 200ft roll of the stuff to put on my G8 when it's at the shop getting all the engine and suspension work done to it so i can help protect the paint. The stuff I bought has a 180 day safe rating. Others are only 30 or 90 days. Sent from my iDevice using data nodes and algorithms.

Chewy
My buddy just bought some clad GMC 20s for his 2001 Yukon XL that had 5 miles on them and they were beautiful. I actually prefer them due to their more consistent look and finish. He had the guy remove the bead weight and put on sticky weights to keep from ruining the edge of the rim. My Ram Sport comes with solid aluminum 20s. No clad. Sent from my miniaturizer via tap dancing...
