Flooding...

Sizzle Chest

Recommended Posts

I live in a city that's been flooded 3 times, once in my lifetime where 77 people died.  The images are still fresh in my mind. Flooding is NOTHING to take for granted and take chances with.  If the water starts coming, go to higher ground and DON'T try to drive through it. Stay safe all of you in CO.

I hope that my basement window wells haven't been breached yet.  ONE thing I forgot this morning before I left for work.  That road that washed out is between my house and the Warehouse.  Certainly finding a new route home later.  They are saying if this were snow instead of rain, that the whole state would be shut down right now.

My father in law has a home in Lyons that backs to the St Vrain river. He was evacuated 2:30am and didn't have time to grab any thing. He has been borrowing peoples cell phone at Lyons elem. to stay in contact with us. Last time we talked to him, he said that he's pretty much trapped like as if he was on a island. The highways going to Estes and Longmont are flooded and can't cross.

The house is not yet under water. His work truck is under and  are boat and jet ski have floated down the street.

Here's a video I found.

4 Mile Canyon is set to send a wall of water down it, and also, I am reading we are expecting another 4-6" of rain tonight.

Aye Aye Aye I hope this stops soon.  It's one thing having a dirty truck, but most importantly, there are people displaced, homes lost, and lives lost now too.

:(

First responders pulled a man from the car that is upsidedown, said he had been in his car over an hour, glad he is o.k., it has been a crazy Colorado summer this year with the Wildfires and now flooding nearly everyday. Mook hope your house is o.k., and be safe!

This is from Dillon Road, about 5 minutes East of The Warehouse

My house in Longmont is flooded. My family waited 5 hours to be rescued by boat. My family is safe and lucky to have so many friends to lend us a hand. I had to leave my 3 dogs behind, I hope they stay safe on the 3rd floor :(

I have lots of pics I'll post when I get chance. I do know all my cars are going to be totaled.

Jason, I just saw you rescued the doggies on Facebook. Katie sent me a pic of her and Mike's house last night. Mike's car floated down the street.

Here is a video from about half a mile from Jason's house.

I am pretty sure one of my cars is under water right now in storage.

The good news is I'm looking out my office window and sunshine and blue sky now!

Seems the storms have all moved on... doesn't mean our friends and neighbors are out of the woods yet, but it should get better from here.

Water is still finding its way down the canyons and passes and has to go somewhere... we will be dealing with these floods for weeks still I'm sure, and the cleanup for months / maybe years to come. But at least the NEW water has stopped falling.

Thank you all for your concern and well wishes.
