What cell phone do you use?

I think the title explains it.

A little background for me. I'm into software modifying the Android Operating System which turns into me constantly changing phones. I've owned nine smart phones over the last three years. As of right now I'm test driving the HTC One with Verizon, having had a Samsung Galaxy S4 before. While the phone is stupid fast, has an awesome display, pretty good battery life, and a super clear (although smaller resolution) camera I don't think it's for me. It has no upgrade-able storage and comes with only 32 GB of built-in space, which doesn't cut it for me. In my S4 with 16 GB of internal storage I also had a 64 GB external SD card and even then found myself having to constantly migrate/manage my storage. I believe the One will be getting returned and I'll wait to see what the HTC One Max or Galaxy Note 3 have in store when they are released next month.

I have a Samsung galaxy on tmobile and I hate it. The coverage stinks, even here in the heart of the dc market. And its not just here... last month i drove from utah to maryland and barely ever had good data coverage, while my co-pilot with her iphone on sprint was always connected. Half my phone calls are riddled with annoying echoes and delays that make the parties stumble over each others voices. And I hate how every app seems to require a new account, password, etc or you get hounded to purchase upgrades. Every single time i open the nav app it tries to sell me voice guidance. argh.... really, cant it remember a prefence? Even simplt things, like the stock quote app sometimes just won't refresh for God-knows what reason. My contract ends this month and not soon enough -- I'm going back to an iPhone.

The phone isn't the problem...its T-Mobile. What a lot of people don't know or realize is that each carrier adds they're own crap to the phones before releasing them. It differs from phone to phone how much they add/remove. I've been with Verizon for almost two years and won't switch because they're coverage is phenomenal. At my sisters house in my hometown I had zero service with Sprint and was lucky to maintain a single bar with edge data when I had T-Mobile. With Verizon I maintain two to three bars of 4G LTE (which is not the same as "4G" from the other carriers). Granted that each phone manufacturer displays the signal to different degrees but crunching the actual radio readouts yields the same results that I've seen in the graphical display. If your thinking of going back to an iPhone and are switching carriers I would recommend the HTC One on Verizon. The issues I have with it are personal preference problems but it is a very solid phone (metal casing anyone?).

iphone 5 on ATT. I dump the pictures into my computer when it gets full. What else is filling up your memory?

Pictures, video, music, apps, you name it. I'm severely integrated with my phone but hate the "Cloud" dependence on data connectivity. I like being able to go back to a picture I took three years ago without reaching for another device.

I have the HTC Rezound. It's old but it has a true HD screen, and a very high ppi, excellent camera, includes Beats audio, and even comes with ibeats in the box. Great phone that never became very popular.

I had some hands on rooting the one my aunt got. Seemed to be a very solid phone but like you said its getting dated. That is the bad thing about these devices is how quickly they become surpassed by newer tech. That's why I've owned so many.

I'm definetly going with Verizon, too, but with an iPhone 5s. Everything else in my house and business is apple, so it makes sense to keep the phone in the ecosystem.

Then I agree with you totally. I tried getting my boss to convert but he's tied to the iCloud as well.

iPhone 5 on AT&T for now, will get the 5S on Friday. Used to hate Apple, but after my first iPhone I became a convert. Love having all my music and pictures on one device, the only thing I would change is to have a microSD slot just in case I run out of room. So far only on my iPad have I had that issue.

AT&T will be the best network soon as they are supporting Onstar, will give T a huge requirement for availability.

I have a dumb phone, that has been perfectly fine for me.  Text and call is all that I find necessary at this point.  They don't make it anymore and I have service thru Verizon (LG Octane).  I have tried other carriers and have found Verizon to be the best for me.

I have a galaxy S3 on AT&T + 64gb mSD card, S4 wasn't a big enough upgrade so I'm waiting for the S5 to come out before I upgrade again.  I've been very pleased with the S3 - it was my first non-apple smart phone, and I wont be returning to apple anytime in the near future for a phone.

I have a macbook pro w/ retina for my home computing, but everything else is android/google for tablets and phones.

I'm using a GS4 for personal and iPhone 5 for work. So I'm constantly comparing each other. Like Ryan said I have several Apple products at home, however I prefer Android for my phone. The GS4 just performs more comfortable to me vs the iPhone.

I shifted from the S3 to the S4 and back to the S4 yesterday after returning my HTC One. The S4 was a nice upgrade from the 3 but I think it was more on the software side than anything else. I'm waiting to see the Note 3 when it gets released next month to see how it shapes up.

Why don't you root and put a custom rom on it. That should take care of switching phones just because of the software and the crapware that's preloaded.

I've rooted and ROM'd every phone I've had going back to my myTouch 3G that required using a hex editor to modify an SD card into a "gold card" that allowed the phone to skip the CID check before flashing an update in HBOOT. When the S4 came out they didn't have any ROMs with air gestures for the S3 which I've come to love on the S4 because of the convenience. Plus, switching from a dual to quad core unlocked a good bit of potential and provided for a buttery smooth interface. That was part of the deal breaker for the HTC One for me is that no one has figured out how to root it. HTC has a developer website that they allow you to use to remove the phones security but Verizon made them shut it down three hours after it launched so only a few got theirs done. There is one guy who bought a JAVA card for about $1700 and is charging people $20 plus shipping both ways to root their phones (the java card does the same thing as the old gold card). I'll stick with my S4 for the time being until someone starts cracking these newer phones or a developers edition comes out for one that I like.
