Question about Chrome

billndawn

Question

Hi all - I am new to the Adams Family, so you may have covered this topic and I just havent found it yet.

What is the best way to clean, seal, etc., Chrome - both wheels (on a brand new car - C7 Corvette), and bumpers on a 50 year old (64 StingRay)?  The older chrome bumpers have some scratches in them.  Obviously the new wheels will be in much better shape.

thanks a bunch.

Dawn

clean the wheels. i used green wheel cleaner on my chrome wheels. they have videos that are under 10mins to view. i think they recommended using APC on actual chrome but i used the gwc anyway. then i sealed them with quick sealant. then all summer all i had to do to get he shine back was using a combination of adams shampoo and water. i keep it in a sprayer. a few oz of shampoo combined with tap water. i think i used 2-3 oz of shampoo for 36oz of H2O. you dont have to be exact. use the boars hair brush and the combo and youll be good. they sell metal polishes too if you need it. i havent tried them yet as my car is new and didnt require polishing. good luck

On your c7 wheels if you do regular two bucket washes, Adam's Car Wash Shampoo will be all you need....if you get brake dust build up you will need to use Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner & as far as your wheel barrels the Adam's Turbo Stick Wheel Cleaning Tool works great...as for your lug nuts Adam's Trim & Lug Nut Brush is a must have.

To protect your wheels Adam's Quick Sealant is not only quick it will protect your wheels like crazy. Then if you want a fast shine on your chrome and paint go with Adam's Brilliant Glaze - The Officially Licensed General Motors Paint Glaze of Corvette & Camaro and last but not least don't forget your tires Adam's SUPER VRT Vinyl, Rubber & Tire Dressing - The Officially Licensed General Motors Tire & Trim Dressing Of Corvette & Camaro

And as for the bumper, in chrome scratches are almost impossible to get out, you could try cleaning them up with Adam's Metal Polish 1 & 2 Combo and follow up with QS & BG. The scratches will still be there but I think it will make your bumper look much better.
