Claying interogative

Juniors Suby is an '07 and is in pretty good shape. Did the baggie test and the paint felt like sandpaper.

I clayed the bugger 3 times, scrubbing like AJ does, and at best I could only get out 50-70% of the contaminants. I went ahead and polished but it still bugs me that its not as smooth as previous work.

Is it just me? (I admit to being an old fahrt!).

Maybe a more agressive clay is needed. I have 4 different kinds of clay because having just one option sometimes isn't good enough.

Some of the time if the paint is in bad shape it will take several passes of claying to achieve desirable results.....

We had a C5 at Corvettes at Carlisle this year that even after 3 aggressive passes with clay, it was still pulling up junk and felt rough. You probably need either a more aggressive clay, or more elbow grease. Are you using the old Adam's clay or the new stuff?

Old. Plus some I got from a local supplier.

The new clay is amazing! I doubt you would have the same outcome with the new stuff.  I had a pretty contaminated car about two weeks ago and two passes with the clay got all of the bad stuff off and the paint was as smooth as new.

If the contamination is bad enough  a more aggressive bar might become necessary... even one of the more aggressive clay alternatives would work. The catch is that they'll be introducing damage as they decon the paint... not a big deal if you plan on correcting anyways, but never fun putting more damage in.

I tried a more aggressive bar, but I may just have to go over it a couple more times in the future. I went over it with SSHR, SHR, and FMP, but I can still feel some rough spots. No swirls though!
