Techjj1 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I am thinking about getting a foam gun to wash my cars and was wondering if i should stick to the micro-fiber wash pads or switch to foam gun. If you say foam gun please attach a link to the foam gun you like most. Thanks, Jacob
0 jbjones85 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I got a foam cannon (connects to my pressure washer) and I love it. Not only does it lay on a nice thick layer of foam to loosen up the dirt it is also fun. Smith 1
0 b_pappy Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Well the problem is, the foam gun we all like to use, and used to sell moved production overseas. For regular use I still believe most of use the Gilmour brand. Bruce
0 Gen9Rolla Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I use a Gilmour and love it, but I'm confused by the original question. You asked if you should use microfiber wash pads, or switch to a foam gun. You should use both together in order to provide a safer wash, not just use one or the other. You can use a microfiber wash pad and a Two Bucket method alone, but not a foam gun by itself. I use my foam gun to cover the car in foam, then use a Two Bucket Method to clean the car. Hope that helps Chase@InsanePaint and THE Mook 2
0 RonBoy Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Justin nailed it above, I picked up a foam cannon from Hotsey, the have a quart size for about $90. It is made in Italy, couldn't find a US made foam cannon unfortunately. Go to www.hotsey.com for info, they have many washing accessories. Good luck and have fun with the foam, you won't regret it.
0 Chase@InsanePaint Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Correct....Justin hit my thoughts exactly. Can't really understand the original question....? Steps should be: -Rinse Car -Foam gun soak car -2 bucket wash car -Rinse car -Dry car The ONLY step that could be eliminated is the foam gun soak. The purpose of ADDING that step, is to further reduce the risks of scratches/swirls, due to lifting the dirt off the surface & by adding "slickness" to the paint surface to prep for washing. matts88yj, THE Mook, Smith and 1 other 4
0 THE Mook Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I suggest getting the Hydrofoamer over the Gilmour. Having used both, I like the way the Hydro dispenses better.
0 Periodic Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 photo (83).JPG I suggest getting the Hydrofoamer over the Gilmour. Having used both, I like the way the Hydro dispenses better. SAM_2381.JPG Hydrofoamer goes on the hose? Is it more effective than those that attach to the pressure washer?
0 Feets31 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 My Gilmour also goes on the hose or that is how I use it.
0 mc2hill Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 HydrofIs it more effective than those that attach to the pressure washer? It foams nicely, but it is not as thick or 'clingy' as the pressure washer foam gun.
0 stirthepot Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I own all three foam guns and would rank them as follows 1. Pressure washer foam gun 2. Hydro 3. Gilmour
0 jbjones85 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I like how "clingy" the foam from the foam cannon is. Gives it good time to break down the dirt before doing the actual wash. If it's not too sorry a simple foaming + rinse is all that is needed Periodic 1
