Perhaps Flex will continue to be made in Germany?

"Under the ownership of Chervon, Flex will continue to operate and

market its products under its own identity. Chervon intends to
maintain and develop the Flex headquarters and factory in
Steinheim, and plans to rely on the existing management team,
R&D center and manufacturing workforce of Flex to develop and
grow the business – now aided by the resources and vast global
network of Chervon.

It does not say anything about moving the manufacturing to China.

One report says:  The seal of quality “Made in Germany” shall also convince customers who would normally refuse to buy products “Made in China”. With the brand Flex it will be much easier to gain a foothold in the market.

The purchasing company is Chinese. The corporate offices, manufacturing, support, design, etc are all staying in Germany. The entire company is staying intact as is.

This is something we were aware of months ago and have had lengthy discussions with Flex about it. We have their full assurance there are no plans to move.

My Saab was built in Sweden, however, after GM bought the company the quality went down, this has become a very complicated world.

Volumes could be written about how poorly (and unfortunately) Saab was handled.  Many, many more volumes could be written about GM as well...

I'm am curious though if this is eventually going to turn into a "Designed in county X.  Built in  country Y"  kind of thing.

Nah, after all this is a detailing site, just interesting how everything is so interconnected.

Now if I hear the clay is from off shore thems fighting words

I had purchased some clay that had a Made in Japan label.

One of these days China manufacturing is going to go down..

It will likely be the opposite. I still recall when comments were made about Japanese and Korean cars in both design and manufacturing. They have a rover on the moon now.
