Rinseless Wash to the Rescue!

BRZN

Question

I returned home mid afternoon last Thursday from a business trip, my wife works Thursdays until 7:00pm, so I took the opportunity to wash the company car. It was a mess, I'd not washed it since mid March.

Fast froward to last night.

The car was parked in the driveway.

A storm rolled through with heavy rain and high winds.

We've got this tree along the driveway:

Beautiful this time of year, yes. But oh so dirty:

When I woke early this morning I looked out to see the car plastered with pink flower petals. It looked like it was a float for a parade. No before pictures because I was so upset that I'd just detailed the car and now this mess. If it wasn't for the fact the tree gives awesome shade on the driveway in the summer I'd have cut it down there and then.

All of a sudden I'm thinking; Rinseless Wash!

30 minutes later and:

Bam!

I did have to hose the car off first with water to remove as many of the stuck on petals as I could. I even had to use my Wet/Dry Shop Vac to remove what was stuck in the cowl.

All in all not too bad for a 30 minute wipe down. Just have to remember not to park there again...

I had a similar issue with the buds falling off my neighbor's maple tree last month. Normally they fall off gradually over the course of a week or so. This year, however, it decided to monsoon and pretty much all of them fell off in one night. To make matters worse, it was cold enough that night for the rain to freeze, so I had maple buds frozen to my car. This is the aftermath:

Nice save Dave!  When does the pollen arrive?  :D

Oh, the pollen's here in the NE right now Michael and has been for about two weeks. The vehicles start to accumulate the stuff immediately, then they turn green within 12 hours of washing.
