CRAP literally

GratefulDiver

Question

So I'm at the track today for some Auto X and while working the track a bird left me a gift. I was gone for about 2 hours and it was dried pretty good. I sprayed it with some waterless wash and let it soak a sec or two before cleaning it off. But it seems to have etched in. The paint has been sealed and waxed twice. I even sprayed it with some 50/50 water alcohol with no luck. Am I up a crap creek with out a paddle?

I'm in the same boat.  Just got back from the beach and I think every seagull within 5 miles crapped on my car. Won't be able to do anything about it till tomorrow.

You are not S.O.L......  Take some of our Paint Correcting Polish, and get your drill with our 4" backing plate and 4" Orange Foam Pad.  Spray a touch of our Detail Spray on the pad.   Go across the etching a few times, but be sure not to overheat the panel.

You will need a good drill with solid RPM's to fix the issue, a clapped out DeWalt 14V won't do the trick!

You may need three passes, but the etching will become nearly impossible to see after the first pass.

PLEASE take before, during, and after photos if at all possible!

Thanks. :2thumbs:

Thanks Adam, I assumed polish would do the trick but wasn’t sure. I know I didn’t want to color sand, as one of my buddies suggested. I have a good 1/2 drill I can use but need to pick up a pad and backer. It’s crazy that bird droppings can do that much damage in such a short time. Is it just the nature of the beast or does it say something about my paint and clear coat?

Bird crap is HIGHLY acidic, so it's no fault of your clear coat, hard or soft makes no real difference.  It only takes a few hours (sometimes less if the panel is hot) to create some etching, which is why removal ASAP is paramount to keeping the damage to a minimum.
