Thickness Gauge..need some help

hello guys 

 

well we all know before starting wet sanding we need a Thickness Gauge ok

 

the thing is i want to learn about wet sanding but i need some help whats the best Thickness Gauge there is ,,my budget is around 1200$ 

 

the 

 

Defelsko PosiTector 6000  

 

or

 

Defelsko PosiTest DFT

 

or something els 

 

and one more thing 

 

bear with me guys im new to these things

 

how can i know if the paint is thin that i cant do any thing about it

 

what i mean if i measured the paint with the Thickness Gauge ok and the readings said 2 or 3 thats mean the paint is thin right ??

 

and if it says 4 of 5 the paint is good and i can do any thing with it ?
