How to remove smears

compudiva

Question

So, I detailed the car last week, a few hours a night in the garage.  I am not sure if it was due to the poor lighting, or humid conditions but I now have what appear to be smears or dark streaks that seem to be visible in the sun light.  I am hoping I don't have to redo the entire detail.

Any ideas on fixing this problem?  The process I used during the detail was a strip wash, clay, polish, sealant, glaze and wax.

Thanks

Humidity will do that. Did you try some Detail Spray and a Plush Towel?

When I waxed our Fire Engine last week it was humid and I had a hard time removing the Buttery Wax residue but the DS helped a lot.

If that doesn't work go over the area with some Revive Polish and then reapply the sealant after the "smear" is gone.

Post some pics too, might be helpful to see what you are seeing.

How bad is your lighting or how tight is the budget?

Go on ebay and for $20 get a Cree LED torch flashlight

for swirl finding and final inspection to be sure the surface is clean, even with dual 4' double T8 (4 total bulbs) fixtures in my 2 car garage I still need a work light when detailing at night, and this does the job just fine for me.

Give a Waterless wash or Detail Spray wipedown on the car and see if the streaks go away.  If its polish residues you will def need at least a waterless wipe as it has more cleaning agents.
