Maintaining Leather Seats

Will!

Question

Lately I am finding the need to clean my drivers seat of my truck at least every couple of days partially due to the way things have been at work lately. Besides sitting on a towel, throwing a seat cover over or using LIC and Leather Conditoner every couple of days what else could I try?

I have TID which I use and love on my fiances Accord, however I very much enjoy the scent of Leather Conditoner and would much rather use that on my interior. Could I use TID every couple of days combined with a utility towel to clean my seat but not strip the Leather Conditioner that's on the leather now?

Dude when I worked in construction I just kept a huge beach towel in my trunk, and on the way home from work just laid it over my seat and drive home.

Don't make more work for yourself just get a towel bro. You don't want your dirty *** grimy *** carhartts making your seat look stupid every day. It will be a lot easier to do weekly interior touch up.

I just don't like sitting on towels, it's more of a challenge for me since I have to jump up in my truck since it's lifted and the towel will bunch up and it's frustrating. I don't get dirty and greasy thankfully it's mainly sweat from the end of the day and after a day or two it just doesn't smell very pleasant at all.

Unfortunately, TID will strip Leather Conditioner, but TID will still provide protection for the seats.  TID will also help control the odor better.

They make some really great looking seat covers these days, some even are leather like and hard to tell the difference.  I'd look into spending a little more on a quality seat cover and put it on after you've given your real seat a good coat of Leather Conditioner.

I'll see how it works out with TID then. I don't mind cleaning and conditioning every couple of days I was just wondering if there was indeed an easier way.

I don't doubt that they make some nice looking seat covers, however those just aren't my style if you catch my drift lol.

If its sweat you're worried about then trust me you will want to learn to sit on a towel.  Just tuck it in the bottom of the seat where it meets the reclining portion and tuck the top of it under the headrest.

I know exactly what you mean as I sweat like no tomorrow, that's what I'm talking about.  Laying pavers all day in 100 degree heat in the summer does no good for your seats.  You really want all that sweat seeping into the leather, even if you lay a coat of conditioner/cleaner down every week?

Get a big beach towel and rotate a fresh one twice a week and you'll thank me in the long run.

Thanks man. I do suppose you're right about getting sweat and stuff down into the leather. I think I will just have to learn to live with a towel, as I can't stand how dirty my seats get.

A towel, or your wife's robe.....

I'm fairly sure that my fiancé would flip if I used her robe... but it is really soft and my leather IS important... :lolsmack:
