ishikiri9
OK, so my question is:........ Is Sears now in the counterfeiting business when they expect you to have your lifetime warranted Craftman (USA made) tool replaced by a Craftman (made in China) tool ? A Chinese made hand tool is far from the same as one made in the USA. They are virtually worthless as a replacement, and anyone who has used them is deeply aware of this. Therefore, what good is the lifetime warranty on your USA made Craftman tool if you cannot get a USA made replacement? Sears has essentially broken their contractual agreement with millions of Craftman toolholders like ourselves and they have gotten away with it. Does anyone know if there are any legal measures in progress or what measures can be taken against Sears to force them to abide by their contractual agreement regarding their Craftman tool line lifetime warranty? BluedogGMC
I agree with you but if you think about it they could have just changed the name on their tools and did away with the replacement all together. That is what a lot of companies do. Sears is essentially K-Mart now anyway. You also have to watch with their tools. There is Craftsman and then there is Sears tools. Sears tools are not under the same replacement policy.
Rich
You don't even have to go to Sears to buy them anymore either. Even our local pharmacy sells Craftsman tools.
Bunky
Did they say it would be a USA made replacement? Rich
CMDChase
You don't even have to go to Sears to buy them anymore either. Even our local pharmacy sells Craftsman tools. Ace Hardware sells Craftsman products too. Maybe Sears/Kmart is trying to increase sales to help lure a potential buyer? Regardless, their products are not what they were when I started buying them. txab
it's a shame Sears has chosen to go this route with their tool line. Edited July 5, 2014 by txab Marylander
colodude18
It's getting harder and harder to find Made in USA hand tools. I recently bought two used sets of Craftsman Made in USA wrenches from someone on Ebay. At least that way my money stays on our own economy. 694doorbird
I quit buying their sockets many, many years ago. At least with the 1/4" drive sockets, I'd find the wall thickness wasn't the same all the way around it. So far, I've been happy with the Kobalt tools Lowes. LFairbanks
Sears isn't what it used to be. I for one won't buy anything there anymore. In fact they closed one of there 3 stores here locally a couple of years ago. I wonder how long it will take them to figure out why. Anybody remember the Sears Catalog growing up? As far as the warranty on the tools, I guess I never thought about it. But your not going to get the same quality product IMO with an exchange. My mom worked in the catalog department taking orders over the phone before the interweb.
Marylander
For what it's worth, the OP of this thread seems to be a fly-by-night type with just 1 post, and it seems designed to stir up anger at Sears. So be wary of taking the bait.

eric@thompsonracing.us
Craftsman has gone downhill, fast! I buy all Snap-On now. If you're in the Philly area, get ahold of Jeff Dehaven, great Snap-On rep!
2quikta
I don't mind buying Craftsman as long as they still stand up to the warranty. If it breaks ten times, I just go up to Sears and they hand me a new one.
