How best to see swirls on white car

fredinco

Question

So my car is white with lots of black parts (roof, spoiler, mirrors, some hood etc) I see swirtls easily in the black and I know that they are just as bad in the white. Trouble is I really have to be in the right light and at the right angle to see the white ones. Anyone know a trick that makes them easier to see to get them out. I think that when using my new cyclo, I'll spending more time looking than correcting.

A set of 500w halogen work lamps works for me.  You will need to block other light sources as much as possible to get the best chance to find them.  It may take some adjustments of the lights and/or camera angles to get them.  The ones I took make the car look yellow.  I will try to post them when I get home tonight.

Thank you all. Please be patient with the nubie questions. I am just making sure I am geared up right for my first shot with the Cyclo next weekend.

Thanks for the info.

Finally able to post these up:

A shot with a Brinkman dual xenon handheld light

A 50/50 shot with 2 500w halogen lights on a stand - yes it is the same car, the halogens just make it look yellow.  Both shots were taken in the garage at night.
