Rinsless Washing With Waterless Wash Products

cfiiman

Question

I decided to try it today b/c I hate spraying water at my car that it doesn't have a top or windows.  I used a waterless wash to pre-lubricate each panel then used a rinsless solution on a microfiber mitt.  The results were really good but it took me longer than a traditional wash and seemed like more work, am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is?  I guess I always thought this method was suppose to be faster but it sure wasn't for me.  Not sure I'll stick with it or not, I really want to on this particular car only, the daily drivers I'm not worried about washing so much.  Here are some pics after getting done, I did like the fact that there was not excess water everywhere like normal, it takes forever for it all to come out when I hose it, plus it gets places it is not suppose to so I'd like to get good at this technique.  It appears that it didn't swirl the paint, although I have some micro marring anyway so can't be 100%, but I don't think it did:

We use Rinseless wash for 95% of our washing at our shop the best we have found is 2oz solution to 4 gallons of water don't ring out the mf all the way keep it wet that way the mf glides along the paint if it catches you need more water. Only if the car is super dusty do we Pre spray a panel. A car that size and that clean would take me about 15 to 20 min total to Rinsless wash. Do one panel and wipe with another towel behind your wet towel top to bottom as always and don't use it as a 2 bucket wash your just waistline time and its easier to wash towels them to wring them out and re use them

Ok, then I'm just being too cautious I guess, I'll keep working at it.

Looks great!! It's alittle awkward at first.takes a few times to get used to it. Just like with anything new.

Cool thanks.

Gorgeous car. Rinseless washes are supposed to be much faster than a traditional two bucket wash. Perhaps you were moving slower as a precaution for your first time?

Yes this is what I'm thinking, it was awkward to me at first and I was unsure of how to do it honestly.  The hood is so large it was very cumbersome to get at it all effectively.

I'm actually doing this a little different then the way you are suppose to.  I have a rinseless wash that I made into a waterless wash with distelled water.  I use this solution and really presoak the panel, and when I mean pre-soak I mean a lot of product.  I had to refil my Adam's bottle 2.5 times on this car.  The reason I spray so much product is because then I use my microfiber mitt in my bucket with grit guard of plain water, get it really wet then spray it a couple of times with more WW then proceed to wipe the panel gently going back to the bucket after every pass and rubbing it on the grit guard.  This is where all the time is coming in I think, I'm just nervous to keep going more than one, maybe two passes without rinsing.  With the amount of product I'm using though, I would probably be fine to do more.  I'm probably wasting a ton more than I need.  The rinseless product was suppose to be dilluted 4oz to 2 gallons, I used the whole 34oz bottle to 1 gallon of distilled water to make a very slick Waterless Wash..

I recommend you use the technique shown in the Adam's Rinseless Wash video.  The only thing I do different is I add more towels (enough so that I never have to reuse any) and I only use one bucket since I don't rinse the towels after use.  Takes about a half-hour to completely wash my Camaro.

I don't recommend the technique in the Adam's video and I do what Beemer does above.  I do recommend the product but I don't think the Adam's video is an efficient and as safe of a Rinseless wash as it could be.

I recommend Garry Dean's technique of using multiple MF towels and after all 8 sides are spent you throw it in a laundry bucket for cleaning and launder it.  Youtube his videos to see how efficient the process is.  Pre-soak panel, wipe down with towel, dry panel, towel in laundry.  Next.  When I did my wifes 2011 Rav4 I did the entire car, including paint, glass, and wheels/tires last of course (with a black towel) with 7 towels, 6 for paint/glass.

This way you never have cross contamination of old dirt to new dirt and the risk of scratching is minimized even less. Not to mention it is a ton more efficient to soak 10 towels in a bucket, take one out, use it up and toss in laundry as you go as opposed to using the same towel and trying to dip it clean after each use.

Jason has described the process more artfully than I.

An additional benefit - after using this process you still have half a bucket full of pristine Rinseless Wash that you can save and use to de-bug or spot clean after a quick drive.

The only downside is all of the extra laundry....

I agree with both Beemer & Ricky.  I do not re-use the towels during the wash process.

4 Gallons of solution should last you a long time, esp. on the Viper.  I get at least 4 washes out of 4 gallons on my Viper.  I use 6-8 towels.  The side pipes on the Vipers throw a lot of soot and I'll use a whole towel on each sill.

The rinseless process should def. be less time than a full wash.  You don't need to pre-soak as much as you are.  I use less than one 16oz bottle per wash.

In the pre-soak bottle I use 1:16 (waterless wash ratio), I have a Venus compression sprayer that works great for saturating panels.

In the bucket I use about 1 oz per 2 gallons of water of the concentrate, I never fill up with a full 5 gallons so it's always about 1-2 oz worth

What I do is the Garry Dean method.  I use 2 buckets both with grit guards.  One with MF towels and rinseless wash solution and the other is empty.  No dirty towels ever get into the rinseless wash.  After I finish I save the left over rinseless wash and put them in spray bottles or a garden sprayer.  Then I use that as a waterless wash or to pre-soak a panel when I i do another rinseless wash.

I am guessing the waterless wash will stay fine in the bucket if it is sealed, just like a bottle would be?

Second question, do you if the below top is what I would need? I went the cheap and school color rout and bout 2 buckets from Home Depot, and now looking for 2 Blur tops. They are wanting $10.30 a piece for them.

Those will work fine.
