Help cleaning Girlfriends Neglected Wheels

dtudja2j

Question

My girlfriend has a 2009 accord that until she started dating me a year and a half ago, i think it was washed maybe 2 times. I have since been able to restore her paint using adams products of course and the shine in the blue pearl is great. However, her wheels are terrible. The spokes have brown - dark brown stains on them from years of build up. Is there any product out there that will help this? or am i looking at sanding them down and repainting? I was looking at the deep wheel cleaner but was wondering if anyone had any luck with thi,s with such stained wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Definitely start with a good scrubbing with DWC and APC on the tires.  From there you're most likely going to clay and polish with a paint polish (I'm assuming they are silver painted wheels) depending on how bad they are.

Is it corroding through the paint yet?

Post up some pics of the wheels if you can.  But as stated above, I would start with the Deep Wheel cleaner first, also perhaps some APC and some good old fashioned elbow grease/scrubbing (depending upon the finsh on the wheels) and see where that leaves you.

Let us know!

Multiple applications of DWC and possibly full strength APC.

Make sure when you apply the DWC each round you seriously let it dwell for a few mins each time, right to the brink of starting to dry

Get some stiff bristled brushes for the job as well, a ultra soft brush probably won't get it done.

Oh yeah, and take the wheels off to do them individually and get those nasty *** barrels.
